I had mine done over 25 years ago and only took them out a couple of years back. I think it depends on what you wear in them, I had bar bells 2mm thick which settled in nicely and once you get the length correct (they use longer ones after piercing to account for swelling and these move around and get caught on clothing so you need shorter ones once they heal) they are great. I have small nipples which are not very sensitive so this piercing helped with that. I used to hang stuff off them and tug on them, very nice. I took them out because I’m too old and fat for the look any more.
