Rebecca left on the Monday morning, Gill seemed quietly happy. I also left later in the morning to complete the last week of term at college.

It was mid week when Gill called. Can you come over I need to see you. Yeah sure I replied, I'll be there this evening. Gill gave nothing away, so I was unsure of why she needed to see me.

I arrived just before 7, Gill was in the kitchen. Hi, want a drink she asked. I'll grab a water, need a few days off beer. She smiled as she empitied the contents of her wine glass in one swig.

Your Master is going to call this evening he wants to speak to you. I must have had a puzzled look on my face. Think you will like the call she replied.

We chatted, the subject of Rebecca obviously came up. Gill said that they had parted friends. With a smile she added, probably a friend with benefits.

The phone rang Gill answered, oh hi, yes all is fine. Yes he is here. She held out the receiver.

Hello I said. Yes Sir the gardens are looking fine. He then proceeded to tell me he was staying abroad for a while longer and he'd like me to go over. I haven't got a passport was my immediate response. Gill will sort that, I'll sort it with her and see you soon.

I passed the phone back to Gill, I watched as she listened, then reply, yes I'll see to all that.

Placing the receiver back on the phone, she told me what was to happen.

Ten days later I had a new black passport and my flights were booked.
