Next morning......

The lads are excited!!!

08.50am.

A huge Mercedes car, with blacked out rear and side windows pulls up.

A 'man mountain' got out of the drivers door....

Part 2457

We never saw Mr A or his entourage again!!

The only lads who saw him was Harry and Liam.....when they served them their dinner and breakfast which they wanted in their rooms and not the Orangery!!

Leo told me that the Flowery has taken over £3,500 this week in sales and Noah couldn't have done it without the help of Zak.

It seems like he is finishing work with John and Henry and then helping Zak.....I looked in the overtime book and wasn't suprised to find no overtime entries. I told Leo to have a word with Billy and make sure that Zak and Noah are paid extra.

I know Noah has been going to the flower wholesalers early in the morning and then running 2 Pilates classes in the evening twice this week.

Part 2459

Tony, Roger, Arlo, Aaron and Ian were preparing the wedding room and the function room for the wedding this afternoon.

Dylan and the kitchen crew were getting ready for the 3 course meal for 145 wedding guests.....

The wedding is a rather posh one, apparently top hat and tails.

The bride is Catholic and divorced.

Arlo told me that the bride to be asked the church for a Catholic Annulment, after applying to the Church's annulment tribunal to have her first marriage declared "null" or invalid. This was refused by the church, hence she couldn't get married in church, so she's having a registry wedding.

The grooms family are "well off" and have successful businesses both in the UK and abroad.

Apparently they have over 15,000 acres of land in Ireland.

Arlo's late grand parents knew this family well....

It was Arlo's dad that told them about Arlo working here etc etc.

So thank you Arlo's dad....

This is probably the biggest wedding we have held here, and certainly the most costly.....

I of course said that Aiden could take the day off......

I asked Josh if he wanted the day off as well, but he said he will work as its a big event and we need help. Aiden agreed that Josh should work as it "will be better if I'm alone to be honest"

I gave both of them a hug before leaving....

I then went to see Arlo.....

I asked him whats the matter with Aiden?

He didn't know and was a bit shocked when I told him he requested the day off as he didn't want any part of the wedding?

He was also a bit shocked that Aiden was upset about something.....

He couldn't understand it as Aiden used to work for the grooms family at the weekends in one of their farm shops/cafes......

Arlo said he will have a word with him and try and find out what is bothering him......

I asked him not to mention our discussion.

The kitchen was in full swing, Noah and Zak was busy making up the flower bouquets, and Ian, John and Henry were tidying up the gardens and grounds.

Tony was stocking up the bar with Jack and Roger.

Billy, Leo, Scott and Ethan were busy tidying reception and the foyer and was even hoovering the carpets!!

I walked to the function room and saw that it was already decorated and the tables set and plated with cutlery and wine and champagne glasses.

Part 2461

The hotel was looking good, and so was the staff in their uniforms.

Every thing was piecing together nicely

Midday...... lovely Harry and Liam doing their tea trolley run....

Cappuccino and cheese and ham sandwiches.

He admitted he really hasn't had time yet, but told me "don't worry about him Jason, if it was something really bad he would have told me by now"

As he said that, Aiden walked into his office and saw me and Arlo and Aaron!

He was in his full staff uniform!!

He smiled at us and apologised saying "I've asked Leo to put me back working today and got my duties for the day"

I could see that he still had red eyes from crying....

I'm pleased Aiden has has come to terms with whatever it was that was bothering him.

I went into the function room and Zak and Noah were busy putting the vases and flowers onto the tables.

From what they have already done, the displays look outstanding and smells nice.

I went to the kitchen and thanked Harry for 'having a word with Aiden'

Harry just smiled..."pleased I could help"

The wedding registrars arrived and as normal Leo got them hot drinks and went through the 'formalities' with them in the wedding room.

I went to the gym and found Adam and Sebastian in the changing rooms.

They had just had a shower and was getting changed into the hotel staff uniforms.....

I told them they could have used the shower in either the staff quarters or in my flat?

They looked really smart as they came out and reported to Billy to see what he wanted them to do for the wedding.

They were the 'meeters and greeters' welcoming the wedding guests and directing them to the wedding room and then later the guests to the function suite.

Tony, Sam, Ian and Joe were in full uniform but were wearing armbands printed with 'security' on them.

Extra security staff were coming in later to help out.

They will be dressed in security uniform with hi viz jackets. There job is car park, reception and general security detail.

Aiden came and found me and asked to speak to me....

We went into the office and sat down. I made the cappuccinos....

He apologised for his "attitude' earlier and then went on to tell me why he got upset......

Apparently he used to work at the weekends at one of the grooms dads shop/cafes.

Putting it bluntly, he told me that "the groom used to fuck me and we used to have a bit of fun with each other. His dad caught us in a store room, both naked and sucking each other off....he wasn't happy!"

I put my hand up to stop his talking.....

I told him......"ok Aiden, I can now appreciate why you didn't want to be working...under the circumstances if you don't really want to work then don't mate. I don't want you to feel awkward or guilty or get upset. I'll leave that decision to you, but if at anytime you feel you can't handle it, just leave and go to your flat."

Aiden hugged me and promised he will if it got too much for him or if the groom or his dad say anything.

Part 2463

What Aiden didn't tell me, mainly because I stopped him from talking, I heard from Arlo......

When the dad caught Aiden and his son naked in the store room sucking each other off, he sacked Aiden saying he "led his son astray and its all his fault".

The dad also told Aiden that he had "better not tell anybody about this, or else I will cancel the works contracts that both your dad and grandad has with my companies"

The dad then paid Aiden a month's wages, as just, and told him to tell his dad that he's not needed anymore.

Aiden therefore didn't say anything to his parents about the real reason of him leaving.

The groom and his parents arrived and lucky enough Aiden was the other side of reception talking to Arlo and Tony.

Unfortunately the bride and her parents arrived at the same time and she saw Aiden.....

She then went over to Aiden and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek...

It was Clodagh, the girl that Aiden worked with in the shop/cafes!!!

Then she shouted to Declan, the groom, to come over.......

Declan and his parents went over and were a bit shocked to see Aiden in full hotel staff uniform.

Declan shook Aidens hand, but when the dad held his hand out, Aiden refused to shake it, turned to Arlo and said "excuse me but I have duties to attend too" and then left them standing their!!

Aiden walked away from them with a smile on his face!!

He saw me, came over, gave me hug and said "thats better, I'm ok"

Anyway.......

The wedding ceremony went off with no problems.....

Declan and Clodagh are now married and went up to the honeymoon suite that they have for the night.

Both sets of parents also have rooms booked for the night.

The function room looks stunning with the flower arrangements, the vases on the tables and the general decorations like "Mr & Mrs" "newly weds" etc etc.

Guests for the evening meal are starting to arrive and the bar is now very busy.

4 bar staff working including Tony.

The kitchen in full swing and the extra waiters/ess and kitchen help are on site and being directed by Dylan.

All the extra waiters/ess were dressed in black trousers, white shirts/blouses and black bow ties. They looked very smart indeed.

One of the extra lads working in the kitchen, I heard Liam call him 'ghost', was aged about 25, skinhead blonde haircut, 6' tall and had arms like tree trunks with tattoo sleeves on both arms.

I later heard others call him 'ghost' and I thought thats a weird name.....

Harry, being Harry, even though he was extremely busy in the kitchen, made sure he done his tea trolley run and made sure that the staff on outdoor duties in the car park were given hot drinks and sandwiches.

So typical of Harry, ensuring others are fed and watered.

"Ghost" was teamed up with Liam, and they worked well together.

Liam and Ghost came to see me and Liam asked if Ghost could stay the night in his flat with him and Aj?

He said "they have a lot of catching up to do"

Later on I found out from Ghost that he was one of the lads that Liam saved when that bomb took Liams leg off, exploded. And he was called "Ghost" because he had an uncanny method of 'hiding' unseen when in camouflage.

Part 2465

The wedding meal was served and the waiters were clearing the tables.

Harry, John and Henry told the rest of the kitchen staff that they will clear up so they could go.

Dylan stayed to help them.....

A bit later on I saw Liam, Aj and Ghost head to the gym.

They were all in tee shirts and shorts.

Ghost not only had arms as big as tree trunks but he had thick powerful legs as well.

On his left leg he had a tattoo of a 'rifleman' silhouette. It looked good.

I decided to go and see what they were doing.....

I should have known that Ghost was working on his arms.. he was performing a variety of exercises for his biceps and triceps. He was doing bicep curls with dumbbells, tricep dips, cable pushdowns, and overhead extensions.

It was nice to see Tom helping him out and giving him repetitions to do.

AJ was on the running machine and Liam was doing some chest exercises.

All 3 of them were sweating and it wasn't long before they removed their shirts....

I went for a walk outside to ensure our outdoor security were still 'on the ball' and not skiving.

Leo had them on the security cameras anyway.

Harry, John and Henry had finished clearing up in the kitchen and the extra staff were now dismissed.

Guests were now leaving

John and Henry decided that they will hit the gym as well....

Harry came into reception and brought me, Leo and Billy a cappuccino.

He told us about Liam meeting Ghost. He said it was a bit emotional for them 2 as they hadn't seen each other since Liam got medically discharged from the army.

Ghost works for a catering agency and didn't realise that Liam worked at the hotel......

Harry went on to say that when Ghost saw Liam he burst into tears. Liam recognised him straight away and he also started crying....

Dylan told them to go outside for a few minutes to 'compose' themselves.

It was then that Dylan decided that them 2 can pair up for the evening.

Harry laughted and then told us that Dylan paired him up with a 'right bloody dipstick' who didn't have a clue!

In the end Harry got him to be the equipment cleaner-upper and do all the heavy and manuel lifting.

The lad never complained once and always had a smile on his face and was very polite...

Harry then told us, with a smile on his face, that even though the lad was bloody useless, he couldn't have done it without his help and he got on well with him and did actually like him!!

Part 2466

I was now at reception when Liam, Aj, Ghost, John and Henry came out of the gym.

It was obvious they had all had a shower and was now fully dressed.

Liam invited me, Dylan, Leo and Billy to his flat for a quick drink.

It told us that Harry and Luke was coming as well....

Leo said he has things to do when Simon comes it so he will have to give it a miss.

Half hour later, me and Dylan arrive at Liam's flat.....

We went in and heard background music and laughter.

We were immediately handed a beer by AJ.....

Plus I saw the sandwiches and snacks on the table....no doubt thats Harry's doing!!

Liam formally introduced us to Ghost. His real name is Mervyn but hates that name and prefers to be called, simply, Ghost.

He done his 6 years service, and as he says "if it wasn't for Liam, I not only wouldn't have completed 6 years but I wouldn't be here today"

He went on to tell us that he wanted to see Liam after the explosion but was refused permission as his C.O thought 'it would be better if we remember him as he was, not as he is now.' We were told his survival rate was only 20%. Ghost was then sent on another 'mission' in another country and was their for 9 months.

John then told us that Ghost also was injuried and has scars on his body.....he noticed them when they all had a shower after gym.

It was now getting late and John and Henry excused themselves as did Harry and Luke. Me and Dylan made our excuses as well.

Next morning......

Breakfast.....

Harry was breakfast chef so we had a full English breakfast as he thought Ghost would appreciate that.

Ghost certainly appreciated it as he said he hasn't had a full breakfast for ages....he says as their is only him he can't be bothered.

He lives in a house with 5 other people that share the kitchen and living room etc.

He works for a catering agency company and helps out hotels and restaurants with their catering needs when needed.

He told us that at the moment he is a 'commis chef' which is an entry-level kitchen role where they assist senior chefs with a variety of tasks, including food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen hygiene standards.

He aims to get further qualifications to progress to be a proper chef in his own right.

I saw Dylan studying him and listening to his every word.

Part 2467

After breakfast I was walking to reception after hearing the tannoy asking Harry to attend reception.

Harry got their and Billy handed him a envelope...

Harry looked at the envelope and asked "was this hand delivered? Who's it from?"

Billy smiled...."you have a lady admirer! But way too old for you mate!"

Harry pulled a face and opened the envelope.......

He started reading the letter and smiled and nodded to himself.....

I saw a tear appear in Harry's eyes as he handed me the letter saying "that was nice of him"

As I started to read it, he told me "thats from Pat, the lad that helped me yesterday, the one I called a dipstick"

It was a hand written thank you from him to Harry, thanking Harry, for helping him, advising him and not shouting at him! The letter went on to say that it was his first ever shift with the catering agency and he was very nervous. Plus he is only in his 2nd month at catering college. He also apologised for not knowing much but he learnt a lot shadowing Harry.

What a nice thing for him to write to Harry, thanking him.....

Harry then said he feels so guilty now calling him a dipstick as he thought that all the agency workers were qualified and knew the catering business......

Billy then admitted that was his fault as he asked for 'kitchen staff' but didn't request any skills or anything like that.

Harry told us that even though Pat was a bit slow he can now understand how nervous he must have been being thrown in the deepend.

Harry took the letter back and told us he was going to write a reply to him.....

As he was walking away, he turned back, smiled and told us that Pat would be so useful helping him with the sunday carvery!

Later on Dylan told me he has been thinking about what Harry said about Pat helping with the Sunday carveries......

I think Harry has had a word with Dylan behind my back!!!!

Sorry lads but I'm not as stupid as I look!!

Dylan told me that if Harry and Liam trains him up that means that each Sunday one of them 2 can have the day off?

I queried that as Harry and Liam always works together.?

"Yes, replied Dylan, they do and will continue doing the Orangery afternoon teas for 3 days of the week and their cake making"

It looks like Dylan already has things worked out, so, as it's his kitchen and staff, I simply agreed with him.

Thinking about it, it did make sense as I'm always on about how hard and long hours the kitchen staff do.

Harry then appeared out of 'no where' I didn't see him arrive and scared me a bit as I then unexpectedly heard him say "hi dad's any news?"

I turned round to see him, when bloody Smudge then frightened me even more by attacking my shoe lace that had come loose!!!

Not only was Harry and Dylan 'plotting' behind my back but bloody Smudge was taking a leaf out of there book!!

Smudge thought my shoe lace was a toy, and he wouldn't let it go!!

He actually ripped it clean from my shoe....

Anyway......

Apparently Pat is coming in for an 'interview' later on this afternoon when the carvery is in full swing.

Harry told me that when he phoned him saying their is possibly a position in the carvery every Sunday from 10.00am to 6.00pm and would he be interested in an interview, Pat sounded so happy on the phone.

To be honest, I think Harry and Dylan have already decided the job is his as no other interviews are being held!!!

I decided to keep out of it and let them deal with it.

2.30pm....

An excited Pat arrives in reception. He cycled here, so he must live fairly close I would have thought? But no....he lives nearly 6 miles away!

I noticed that he was wearing a cycle helmet .....good lad Pat..

Dylan came and got him from reception and the smile on Pats face said it all......

About 5 mins later Pat came out of the gyms changing room in a white chefs outfit!!!

I thought that was a bit funny just for an interview?

Dylan laughted and told me that Harry is conducting the interview in 'his own way' which will consist of it being a 'hands on' interview.

Wow!!! You go Harry!!

After half hour since Pat came in I was intrigued to see how Harry 'interviews'........

I went to the carvery and saw the lovely ladies serving and good old John cleaning and clearing up!

Apparently John never claims overtime as, and I quote him.....

"The girls pay me because with me helping them they can deal with more diners, thus earning more tips. Leo is aware and approved it"

I really give up hope now about this overtime malarkey!!!!

Then I saw Pat bringing out some new fresh vegetables and swopping them for the 'old' vegetables.....

Bloody hell, Harry had Pat working!!

Pat saw me and waved....he had a huge smile on his face.....

I was looking around and didn't see a spare table anywhere!!!

The till was ringing with money!

I heard the servery bell go...the one the diners press to get the meat cutter out....

Then I saw Harry and Pat come out of the kitchen.....

I couldn't believe what I was seeing!!!

Pat was now saying hello to the customers, taking the plate, asking if they wanted a giant Yorkshire pudding and then what meat they would like after saying what the 3 meats available were!!

He then, under the watchful eye of Harry, started carving the meat(s) and putting it on the plate. He then handed the diner the plate and explained about the vegetables and the gravy boats!!

He had a huge smile on his face and spoke to the diners with confidence.

Harry saw me watching and gave me a thumbs up!!!

5.00pm

I was in the gym changing room getting changed after 30 minutes excerise under the watchful eye of Tom.....

John and Pat walked in, both said hello and John showed Pat where the towels and soap etc was.....

John explained to Pat that even though he lives in one of the hotels flats, he showers here on a Sunday so he's ready for evening meal.

They both then stripped off and went to shower!!

Evening meal was called and as usual on a Sunday it's a carvery.

I noticed that Pat was in the dining room......

Harry told me that he has invited Pat to stay for dinner.

He then told Pat "of course you will be able to stay for Sunday dinner every Sunday and of course now use the gym etc free of charge, being a member of staff"

It took Pat a few seconds to realise what Harry actually said.....

When he did eventually realise.....

"Every Sunday, me? Staff? You saying I have the Sunday job then Harry?"

Harry smiled..."thats of course if you still want it mate?"

Pat didn't actually say anything, he just got up and gave Harry a hug!!

Then he went and gave Dylan and Liam a hug......

"I've gotta phone me mum!"

He left the carvery and then returned about 2 minutes later, with a lovely smile on his face.....

Tony done his normal evening "well done everybody" speech and welcomed Pat to the team......

Everybody clapped and cheered and went up to him and either shook his hand or patted him on the head or back.....

After evening meal Pat thought he had better go home.

It was absolutely pissing it down outside....he's getting a major soaking cycling home, when John told him he can put his bicycle in the back of his van and he will drive him home.

Next morning.....Monday....

I was surprised to find both Adam and Sebastian at the breakfast table.

They wanted to get an hour working out in the gym before helping John and Henry on the staff quarters extension.

Apparently it was decided that them, Zak, John and Henry are going to hit the gym every morning before work!!!

Best of British to them!!!

09.10am....

Pat's mum phones me....

To start with she thanked me for getting him home safely last night. She also said that he is so excited about the Sunday job at the hotel and is really looking forward to starting work......

She asked if she could speak 'openly' with me about Pat?

(I have obtained the permission of Pat to say what she told me..... As this 'story' is written in the past, now about 14 months ago. I don't want to give too much away, yet, as unfortunately his Mum passed away, 8 months ago)

"Pat is my only child. His Father died 10 years ago, when Pat was 10, in a motorbike accident and Pat went to pieces. He lost all interest in life, in school, his friends. He was constantly bunking off school and when he was their he was always fighting and getting suspended. He failed every exam. Then we got into a big fight and I told him that his Dad would be ashamed of him. That hit him hard, and I really didn't mean to say that to upset him. I was angry. He swore blind he was going to prove me wrong and make his Dad proud of him. We spoke at great length, between the tears, and he decided he wanted to be a great chef like his dad was..his dad was a chef at a restaurant. He re-took his exams and managed to get 3 GCSE'S which got him in catering college. I thought you had the right to know and Pat agrees with me as he wants to be 'upfront' with you because he's worried that if you contact his school or ask for references he scared it will show up bad for him. But he really loves the hotel, he thinks Harry and Liam are great and he feels like their family to him already. All I ask is that you give him a chance at the job and don't judge him on his past."

I stopped her from talking by saying, and I remember the conversation well......"thank you for telling me. I never have and never will judge anybody from what happened in the past. All I'm interested in is what they can bring to the hotel for the future. Most of the lads here have, shall I say, a checkered background. Now all what I'm going to say is he done well yesterday and impressed Harry and Liam so much they offered him the job. That's good enough for me. So we will see him Sunday 10.00am sharp"

It's PAT here writing this part...

Thank you all for your kind comments especially by DM.

Yes, I did give my permission for Jason to write about what my mum told him. I known that's a true account as my mum told me what she said.

I miss my Mum.....and my Dad.

My mum passed away from breast cancer on the 25th January this year.....

I had only been at the hotel 6 months before she died......

As I'm writing this, it's obvious I'm still working at the hotel. ..

Jason has asked me not too write about the present, only the past....

I was so excited, but also nervous about my initial interview on that Sunday....

Harry never actually told me it was a 'hands on' interview!!

But I throughly enjoyed the experience and Harry and Liam were really good to me...helping and advising....

Harry even let me be the server at the carvery and I had too meet and greet the diners and slice the meat that they wanted!!!

I felt like a proper Chef!!!

It's been less than 9 months since my Mum passed away and I honestly don't think I would be writing this or even be alive if it wasn't for my 'new family', especially Jason, Dylan, Harry and Liam.

I have been 'living in' at the hotel since February.

As the only child and no other relatives that I was ever aware off, I inherited the house and everything in it, including my mums jewellery, money and her car.

I sold the house, as unfortunately my mum had a few debts that had to be paid and a mortgage on the house, that I couldn't afford....

Back to the story......

The Wednesday before my first ever shift working at the hotels carvery.....

I was so excited about it!!!

I went to the local shops to get some small items of shopping for my mum. It's only a 5 minute walk so just grabbed the money and left.

20 minutes later I got back and me Mum (God rest her) told me that my mobile phone rang....

I looked at the screen and it was 2 missed calls from the hotel......

My heart missed a beat.....

Lots of things went through my mind.

Do they not want me now? Have they changed their mind? Did I fail because of my past?

My Mum told me to just ring them!!

My hands trembled as I pressed the 'call' button

It was answered with the hotel name (jason asked me to redact the hotel name) and "Billy speaking how can I help you?"

I told Billy it was Pat and I've missed a couple of calls?

Billy laughted telling me "answer your bloody phone in future Pat, Harry's panicking that your ignoring him!"

The next second Harry was talking!

He asked me if I'm available to work Saturday 10.00am to about 6.00pm as they have a wedding with 75 diners and he thinks it would be good for me to get involved with the cooking!

Me? Harry wanted me to help!!!

I managed to stutter "yes please, I can help!"

He then told me that as I'm working Sunday as well, I'm welcome to stay the night to save me cycling home etc and I can then have meals and a beer with the others!

I stuttered again...."thats sounds good, I would like that please"

I was so excited!!! I nearly wet meself.......

Anyway.....

Back to the story...

The Saturday, the wedding.....

I arrived at the hotel at 09.20am..

I must have pedaled like mad!!

I was so happy and excited!...

I walked into reception and Billy and Leo both gave me a hug....

Leo gave me a big bag.....I opened it and found it contained 3 full sets of chefs whites!!

The jackets even had my name embroidered on them....

Leo told me to take one set and get changed. Harry arrived in reception and said I could change in his flat.

We went upstairs, got into his flat. He has a lovely cosy flat. Really felt 'homely and loved' if you know what I mean?

Harry said he will put the kettle on and if I want to have a shower as I looked a bit sweaty, I'm welcome too.

I went to his bathroom, stripped and jumped into the shower.

After my shower I put my boxers back on and walked out to the living room to get changed into my new chefs whites.

I didn't hear Luke come in and he was sitting on the sofa drinking a cappuccino!!

"Sorry, left my new kit out here!" I said to them....

I saw both of them look at my boxers and my package!!

Dressed, I looked in a full length mirror Harry has and saw myself in full chefs uniform....

I FELT SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!

Harry gave me a cappuccino and said he will sort out a bedroom for me for tonight.

Me and Harry went down stairs to the kitchen where Dylan, Liam, Sean, Mark, Stuart and Alex were already there....

They all said hello and welcomed me to the team!!

Dylan put me on the preparing of the wedding meal dessert....

It was a 'Croquembouche', which I have never heard of, which is a traditional French dessert, shaped like an impressive tower of cream-filled choux pastries and is held together with caramel!!

Dylan showed me a picture of it and the recipe....

Jesus.....that looked very complicated....

Alex was the lead on preparing it and I was helping him.......

Dylan told me "not too look so worried....relax, calm down, listen to Alex and above all enjoy it as nobody is going to judge you! If your not sure of anything, just ask!"

The kitchen was in full swing, everybody was busy at their designated work station, and I kept hearing 'yes Chef' every now and again....

Everybody seemed happy and was smiling and they all asked how I was and am I ok...that was nice of them!

The extra waiters/ess arrived and Dylan was giving them their instructions.....

The wedding starters, all prepared by Liam was now being served to the wedding diners.....

55 prawn cocktails, 12 duck pates and 8 goat cheese tarts!!

The main course was Beef Wellington which is a dish of seared beef tenderloin coated in a mushroom paste and pâté, wrapped in crepes, and then encased in puff pastry before being baked.

Dylan and Sean prepared that and Mark and Stuart prepared all the vegetables.

I was a proper real Chef!!!

PAT still writing......

The wedding meal was perfection!!

I throughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot!!

Leo said I could bunk down in Jason's spare bedroom tonight.

I got to Jason's flat and found that Zak was in the other spare bedroom.

Jason appeared and made us all a cappuccino and told us that clean towels are in the bathroom if we needed a shower....

I certainly did need one!!

The kitchen is a hot place to work!

Zak had a shower first and came out of the bathroom in just a pair of shorts and sat on the sofa....

Then Harry and Luke arrived....they were also in just shorts and sliders.

I went for my shower, but came out dressed and I got funny looks from the others?

I didn't know why until Zak told me that shorts and sliders were the off duty normal dress!!

I didn't have a pair of shorts with me!!

Anyway Harry and Luke went to get dressed as did Zak as evening meal was called.....

We all went to the dining room...

Tony done a little speech thanking everybody for their help..apparently he does this every night...

One of Liam's mates, a lad called 'ghost' was sitting at the table as well.... Liam introduced him to me.

Liam then told me that Ghost might be doing the 'table tradition' tonight if I wanted to do it with him?

Table tradition? What only earth is that? What did he mean?

Nobody has told me about that?

Table tradition?

Nobody has mentioned that?

I'm not stupid, I know that most of the lads are bisexual or gay, especially those in the staff flats!

It's not rocket system!!

I've heard from John that the staff parties are normally themed, like toga party, gangster party, swim wear party and even a birthday suit party! But he did say that it normally ended up a naked party!

He even said that the straight lads even attend the parties dressed in the theme dress and even got naked, but just didn't do any of the gay stuff if it happened.

He also told me that Dylan was the 'barber' after seeing me in the shower that time and told me that 'I certainly need a trim!' I replied that I had only had my haircut a week ago for him to tell me he wasn't talking about the hair on my head!!!

I then noticed that he was nicely trimmed 'down below' and realised what he meant!!!

Now, I'm not body conscious or shy. I'm happy with my body and physique and can I say even my cock size?

When I was playing football or any sports when the others were in the changing room doing what I call the 'towel dance' to get changed I was stripped naked and going to shower. Those that didn't shower, no matter how muddy they were, I nicknamed them 'pongos'

I like John as he took me home in his van that time when it was lashing it down so I didn't get wet cycling home.

But he never told me about any traditions?

It suddenly dawned on Harry that I was totally clueless about the table tradition and asked if anybody has told me what it is?

I was intrigued by what the table tradition was?

I sat their and asked Tony what it was.....

He told me!!!!

"It's completely voluntary and nobody will think any different of you if you don't do it"

He then went on to tell me why it's done and how it all started.

I openly asked if everybody sitting here now has done it?

I was shocked when everybody put their hands up!! Even Jason, Dylan, Leo and Billy!!

Even more shocked when Sam and Joe put their hands up as well, and even a couple of the 'straight' lads!!

Bloody hell!!

Like I said I'm not body conscious and thought to myself 'what the hell'.......

I nodded at Tony and at Ghost.....

I then stood up and removed my shirt.....

I removed my trainers and socks..

So did Ghost...

Then the trousers came off!!!

To be honest, I was a bit worried about how you, the readers, would take to me?

This 'story' is so established with the other lads I wondered whether I would fit in?

But thanks for your support....

Anyway........

The table tradition was done!!

I wasn't the first not to do it!!

But it was good that Ghost done it with me to give me that final 'fuck it..let's do it' feeling....

So thanks Ghost, I appreciated that.

After dinner we went to the bar and the lads all wanted to buy me and Ghost a drink.....

After the 3rd pint, I saw Harry and Alex and Liam looking at me with what I describe as a devious look on their faces.......

The bastards were trying to get me dr*nk......

I never have been a big drinker, not even in my 'dark times' did I ever turn to drink or dr*gs...or as my Mum says "whacky baccie"

I was a good lad deep down, just went off the rails a bit thats all.

Ok, yes, I was arrested a few times! But I was never actually charged with anything, so I don't have a criminal record....but that was more luck then judgement.

After about an hour Harry told us all that he's going back to his flat so if anybody wants a drink at his then come up......

A few of us went up their....

Ghost decided to strip to his briefs!! Bloody hell, he looks 'bigger' in them then he did naked!

I stripped to my boxers.....

Hi....

GHOST hijacking the story!!!

Hello readers.....

Hope you don't mind me writing?

Jason has told me that you lot have been asking about me?

Well...... thank you!!!

I'm 26 and obviously as I'm writing that tells you that I'm still connected to the hotel!!

I was, after leaving the Army, at the time in this story working for a catering agency helping out at whatever venue I was appointed too.

I got appointed to the hotel to work a Saturday helping them prepare a wedding meal.

I didn't realise that Liam worked their as a chef!

It was very emotional for me to see him again as he saved mine and 3 others lives, which unfortunately cost him his leg and very nearly his life.

I can't put in words how grateful I am to him.....

I don't mind admitting I shred a tear or 2 on seeing him again.

Liam was a great section leader and lead us through some very difficult missions.

As section leader, he was responsible for leading our small unit of 7 soldiers. He was in command during our combat and other duties, ensuring the section operates effectively as part of a larger platoon.

Dylan, the big kitchen boss, paired me up with Liam for the night.

Now, I'm not saying this because I'm now connected with the hotel, but it was one of the best run and most staff friendly kitchen I had ever worked in. That is 100% true......

Everybody made me feel welcome, especially the lovely Harry and Alex.

I stayed for the staff evening meal and Liam invited me to stay the night so we can 'catch up' on things.

We went to the gym, Liam gave me his spare gym kit to wear.... this was a bit small for me and made my arms and legs look bigger than they really were!!!

Obviously I have never seen Liam's prosthetic leg b4......and on seeing it, it brought back some bad memories and my hand automatically went to my scars that I got from the event, on my chest, back and leg.

The night I decided to undertake the hotels 'table tradition' Pat was also present at the table but didn't know anything about wot the tradition was!!!

I will give him his dues.... he asked wot it was......

Now, I have seen lads and be seen naked many, many times b4!!!

When I first joined the Army as what is known as a 'boy solider' I used to shower with up to 60 other lads at the same time. Being nude around others never really bothered me...it did at first, but you just get used to it, as you don't have any choice!

But the table tradition was something else and I can't believe I hesitated doing it.....I don't know why but I'm pleased that Pat was their and that, and we both done it together!!!

When we done it, for sum strange reason, we gave each other a hug... yes...we hugged when we were both stark bollock naked!!!

Skin to skin and bollock to bollock!

I didn't tell anybody, especially Pat, but when we hugged it felt so natural to me and his hug felt so nice.....

I had certain, shall we say, certain feelings happen and had to get dressed quickly and sit down and use my table napkin to cover "myself"

I never knew that Liam was gay....

But in all honestly, I didn't give a damn......you could never have anybody watch your 6, better than Liam...

(Jason just asked me to explain wot 'watch your 6 means.....it means "watch my back". The phrase uses a clock face as a directional reference, where 12 o'clock is directly in front and 6 o'clock is directly behind, indicating a request to guard or be aware of the rear.)

Aj, Liam's partner is a great bloke. He made me feel very welcome and gave me and Liam space to reminise about the past.

I've just had to delete the next 2 paragraphs on Jason's orders as I wrote about 'now' as in real time and he didn't want that written at the moment!!!!

All I'm going to say is........

Pat is a lovely lad!!!!

I was sitting in my office talking to Leo when Liam and Dylan asked if they could "have a word?"

Leo got up to leave when Dylan asked him to stay......

Leo looked at me and I looked at him.

We were both thinking this could be bad news.......

Leo made us all a cappuccino.....

I noticed Liam looking at Dylan out of the corner of his eyes.....

I told them to just "spit it out and say it as it is, no flannel, no Bullshit!"

Dylan looked at Liam before saying to us........

"Ok....we got Pat working on Sundays now with the carvery, but I lose x2 kitchen staff on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday doing the Orangery afternoon teas and another x2 staff doing the normal afternoon teas. So on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I therefore lose 4 staff just to do the afternoon teas, and x2 staff Thursday and Friday. And if we have functions or conference rooms that need lunchtime food it puts the kitchen under a bit of pressure especially if the event goes on into the evening. So...... Ghost is already a commis chef and between me and Harry we can get him further qualified and experienced....."

Leo put his hand up to stop Dylan talking......

"Dylan, it's your kitchen....how you run it is down too you.... if your asking if we have a bit more in the budget for a extra full time staff member, the answer is no...you have used up your budget. BUT if your asking for extra budget money to employ Ghost and perhaps even Pat full time then the answer is yes. Your request for extra funds, if of course you request it, will be approved with immediate effect. So are you requesting extra funding?"

Dylan looked at Liam, and both smiled......

"Can I request extra funding, replied Dylan, to employ Ghost full time and then see what Pat wants to do and how long he has left on his college course?"

Leo smiled, looked at me and I nodded.....before he told him "approved with immediate effect"

Dylan and Liam both shook Leo's hand and hugged him.

As they were leaving the office, I heard Liam ask Dylan if he could ask Ghost if he wanted a full time job here?"

Within an hour of Dylan and Liam leaving my office, Ghost appeared at reception saying "hello Leo, I've been summoned by Liam to get my arse here pronto"

Liam came and got him and they asked Leo if he could use the office.

The next minute Dylan arrived and they all went into the office.

I was in Arlos office and heard the conversation at reception.

They were in the office for about 20 minutes.....

I was now at reception and saw them come out of office hugging each other.

Ghost saw me and Leo and Billy and smiled at us and said just one word......"Thank you"

Leo asked Dylan when he is starting and was told tomorrow morning!!!

Leo told Ghost he will order his chef's whites now and what name does he want on the jacket? Ghost or Mervyn?.......

Ghost smiled and replied "Ghost would probably be a bit stupid so can I have just Merv? Spelling it out loud... M E R V, please?

Leo then handed him a chefs jacket and trousers and told him can he try them on for size.....

He went back in the office and came out a couple of minutes later wearing the chef's whites.

The trousers were ok but the jacket a big small...

Leo told him if he's starting tomorrow morning he will have to wear that jacket until he orders an XXL one and get it embroidered.

Leo then handed him a contract of employment and asked Dylan to go through it with him and get him to sign it....

Dylan and Ghost or shall I call him Merv now went back into the office.

Harry comes into reception and tells Dylan that Pat has returned his call and will be visit tonight about 7pm?

Harry told us that he hasn't told Pat what it is about, just that we need to talk to him about his shifts.

Jesus...Dylan hasn't hung around getting these 2 lads on board!!

6.45pm

Pat comes into reception with his mum....it was pissing down outside and she gave him a lift.....

Billy phoned the kitchen and told Dylan that they were in reception..

Dylan and Harry arrived.....

Billy had made Pat and his mum a cappuccino......

Pat looked a bit shy and it was obvious he was wondering what was happening.....

Dylan, Harry and Pat went into the office leaving poor old mum sitting in reception!!

10 minutes later, Pat came out with a huge smile on his face asking his mum to come into the office....

10 minutes later they all came out of the office, everybody smiling!!

His mum saw me and asked Pat to disappear for a couple of minutes.

Harry and Dylan took him to the bar for a celebratory drink.

Mum asked to speak to me.....

We went into the office.....

She told me that Pat needed to work instead of college and after working here he is so excited as he told her he needs 'hands on experience in a real life kitchen'

She started crying.......

I handed her a box of tissues to wipe her eyes and asked her if everything is ok?

She told me the devastating news that she felt a lump in her breast and has had a biopsy....it was Cancer...

She has been told she needs an mastectomy...

I asked if she has told Pat yet?

She said she had.......

But she didn't think that Pat fully understood the seriousness of it.

She apologised to me, but said that Pat hasn't had a male role model since his dad died 10 years ago.

She apologised again and said that Pat 'looks up to me' and is always talking about how the others treat me as their dad and talk about the hotel 'family.'

Part 2482.

Pat's mum wiped her eyes and apologised for crying, but she and Pat has no other family.

Pat's dad was a single child as was she and both sets of parents are now dead.

So for the last 10 years it has been just her and Pat......

She again apologised and told me that if "the worse happens" Pat won't be able to cope with it....

Without thinking, but I certainly don't regret saying it, I told her that Pat will never be alone or without support as long as he's here. She cried more, which Leo must have heard, resulting in him bringing us both a cappuccino and a small brandy.

I took Pat's mum to the bar to get Pat and found him sitting with Harry, Liam, Sean, Alex and Ghost. They were all laughing and joking around.....Pat looked so happy....

He saw us and waved his mum over, he then introduced the lads to her!!

They all stood up and shook her hand with Harry giving her a hug saying, as a joke, "don't worry we'll look after him"

After what she had just told me, and Harry saying that, brought more tears to her eyes.....

Harry being the sensitive soul he is, thought he had said something wrong and immediately apologised to her......

Part 2483.

The next day......

Ghost reported for work at 9.00am as arranged....

Pat is starting next Sunday as a full time member of staff as he wanted to explain to his college why he's leaving the course etc.

It was decided that Sean will be Ghosts mentor and Harry will be Pat's mentor and trainer.

Ghost gets changed into his temporary chef's whites until his personal one in the correct size arrives.

It was the W.I's monthly luncheon when they have their meeting then a 3 course meal.....

Sean, Ghost and Harry will be feeding them.....

Their menu this month is either cream of mushroom soup or prawn cocktail for starters and then either roast chicken and vegetables or shepherd's pie ending in either apple and blackberry crumble with custard or a lemon posset.

The lads got to work on preparing the required number needed for each....

Harry and Ghost prepared their hot drinks and snacks and went to serve them in the function room.

Now....don't forget the W.I ladies love Harry and when he was ill and nearly died they gave him one of their handmade teddy's. Harry still has that teddy and it's his 'comforter'.

Harry warned Ghost that the ladies are a bit naughty and sex starved!

Ghost thought he was being wound up until he stepped into the room pushing the tea trolley.....!!!

The old biddies wolf whistled Ghost and asked Harry who the new 'pin up lad' was?

Ghost went bright red and Harry laughted saying "Morning you old biddies, this is Ghost, it's his first day here so please be kind to him!"

The ladies laughted and started cheering and one shouted.. "get them off than lad, let's see your muscles you hunk!"

They really are naughty!!!

And as Ghost had a undersized jacket on it made his arm muscles probably look a bit bigger than they really are.....

The ladies loved him......

And the buggers all wanted Ghost to serve them their hot drink so they could look more closer to him.....

Apparently Ghost really got embarrassed!!!

One of the ladies shouted you can be our naked waiter anytime Ghost!!

When they got back to the kitchen Harry explained what the old biddies said and done to Ghost. ...

The others laughted telling Ghost that their sex mad and want his body!

Apparently, so both Harry and Ghost told me, that it was Alex that came up with the idea of what they done next......

I'm not too sure that I agreed with what they done, as they could have given one or two of the ladies heart attacks! but it was funny and not one of the ladies complained and as they left they thanked both me and Leo, for the fantastic entertainment!!

What entertainment? It was their monthly meeting, they didn't even have background music just hot drinks and snacks and then a 3 course meal?......

I was confused....until Dylan told me what Harry and Ghost done!!

Bloody hell lads!!! Its a wonder we didn't need an fucking ambulance!!

The little buggers!!!

And Ghost on his first official day as well!!

The old biddies were served their starters.....

Then......

Alex went into the room and said "ladies, ladies and now your main course of the meal......"

Harry and Ghost walked in carrying trays of food.....

The ladies cheered and clapped.....

The buggers were dressed in their chefs hats and shorts and trainers only!!

No tops or jackets or trousers!

My god!!!

It's a wonder the old biddies didn't need medical help!!

They served them their meals and I have been told that a few of the old biddies managed to touch the lads chests and biceps!!!

Harry was used to the 'attention' the ladies give the kitchen staff but Ghost was a bit embarrassed!

Especially when they touched him!

It was all good natured....it was just a laugh and nobody was offended and it was consensual.

Even though Ghost was a bit embarrassed he thought it was a good laugh and loved the smile it put on the ladies faces!

He also loved the comments that they made about his physique and his arms.

After they had finished and was leaving, once again the ladies gave Leo a envelope which contained a money 'tip' for the kitchen lads...

The lads always give the tip money to Arlo for his charity....

The tip, depending on the number of ladies that attend, average about £100-£150. They are generous and always have been.....but this time as the chairlady (am I allowed to say that now or should I say chairperson?) made a comment to Leo to thank the lads for the 'entertainment' and that they all approve of the new 'hulk' Ghost !!!

Their was just over £210 in the envelope!!!

Thank you Ladies and I now officially apologise for calling you 'old biddies' as you are a lovely wonderful bunch of mature ladies!

Then, apparently, Noah was waiting at the main doors and handed a red rose to everyone of the ladies leaving!

Nobody asked or knew Noah was going to do that....but it was a nice touch Noah, well done mate!

Ghost was both shocked and amazed at the generous 'tip' that the W.I ladies left........

He didn't know about their regular tips and that they also know that Harry donates them to Arlo's charity.

Ghost laughted...."jesus.....if I would have known that I would have done it butt naked!"

We all laughted with him.....

Think Merv is going to fit on very nicely!!

I went to the Flowery and found Noah and Zak hard at work.....

I thanked Noah for his nice thought in giving the W.I ladies a red rose each....

He smiled...."to be honest the roses weren't up to standard for a bouquet as they look like they would only last a couple of days and I didn't really want to throw them away , so I used some for the hotel vases and still had some left....."

Still a nice thought Noah!!

John and Henry came down from the staff quarters....they really looked knackered....they are very hard workers.....

With the extra help from the college lads, Adam and Sebastian and Zak the new extension is now nearly done!!

The 3 extra bedrooms and extra bathroom just need painting and the bedrooms need beds, mattresses and bedside cabinets and wardrobe.

John said he can buy the double beds, mattresses and flat back wardrobes now as the supplier has a 25% sale on at the moment....

Henry said he, Adam and Sebastian will start painting now and they will be available for use in a couple of days.

Later on Ethan was on reception when he asked if we could consider him and Tyler for one of the new staff bedrooms as they both would like to further their relationship and want to live together!!!

They kept that quite!!!

We knew they were 'friendly' and seeing each other....but never thought it was that serious?

Just then Adam walk into reception with Sebastian asking to speak to Leo and me.......

We went into the office and the lads 'hinted' how nice that the new staff quarters are like and was 'wondering' how they are allocated!!

Leo looked at me......

"Well the rooms are available for single lads and also for couples.

The flats are for couples only so obviously if we have a couple in the staff quarters and a flat becomes available or we build another extension then that couple could move to a flat instead of a room. Why you asking?"

Adam and Sebastian looked at each other, and it was Adam that said they would like to be considered for a room to start of with in the staff quarters......

To be fair, we all knew that Adam and Sebastian were in a serious relationship so them moving in together made sense....
