PAT still writing...

I think we had pissed off Jason tbh.

We hurried to the bedroom and got dressed...

Me in tee shirt and jeans and Merv put his chef's trousers on.....

We went back into the living room and a top less Merv opened the package that Jason brought in and took out a chef's jacket

Merv smiled when he saw his name on the jacket.....

He was putting it on when Jason appeared with the coffee's.

He asked...."have you left the shower clean?"

I quickly told him that "we never done anything in the shower"...

Jason stared at me...."that wasn't my question.....it was have you left the shower clean?"

I quickly said..."yes but I will clean it again"

He then told Merv not to be late for work and then turned to me and said when you want to go to the hospital see Leo and he will arrange to get you their....

With that he walked out of his own flat!

PAT here......

Me and Merv felt a bit guilty about pissing Jason off..... but it was totally unintentional!!

Merv went down to the kitchen and I sat on the sofa.......

I needed to apologise or something to Jason.......

I tidied the flat up, hoovered, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen.....

I noticed that the washing machine had finished and was full of Dylan's white chef jackets and Jason's white shirts.

I found the ironing board and iron and got to work ironing them......

Yes I'm domesticated!!

I can use a hoover, I can use a washing machine, I can iron, and I can sew as well!!!

I was still ironing when Jason came back.....

He saw what I was doing and looked at one of his ironed shirts and made a comment about how good it was!!!

He also asked if I have tidied up and hooved as the flat looks good?

I apologised if we upset him earlier and obviously it was unintentional but we just, well, we just got carried away!

Jason said he was just a bit "grumpy" earlier and didn't mean to cause offensive.

He said he had a few things on his mind......

We had a hug.....which seemed to make it better for both of us.

He also said that he will take me to the hospital and then get somebody to pick me up later.....

PAT here.......

It was Jason himself that took me to see me mum in hospital.

We jumped in his jag.....

On the way I asked him not to tell me mum wot he saw with me and Merv.

Me mum doesn't know that I could be bisexual.....

Anyway......

I was suprised that Jason actually came into the hospital with me, but I'm glad he did in all honesty.

We got to my mums bedside.....

She was awake but her top half was heavily bandaged.....

I felt a bit sick.....

She smiled when she saw me.....

I kissed her and asked how she was?

We spoke for a few minutes when she asked me to go and get me and Jason a coffee as she wanted to speak to Jason......

I went to get the coffee.....

I eventually found the cafe and got us both a cappuccino.

On returning to the recovery ward, I noticed Jason sitting next to me mum holding her hand......

Both of them had red eyes......

Jason and me mum were, how can I put it a bit subdued?

Jason quickly dru*k his cappuccino and told me to call him when he wants a lift home.......

He looked like he was about to burst into tears?.....

The nurse came after about an hour and a half and told me that me mum needs to rest and visiting hours are ending soon.

I phoned Jason and within 30 minutes he arrived.....

He didn't come in, he phoned telling me he was in the "drop off/pick up outside.

I said goodnight to me mum and got in Jason's car and headed back to the hotel.....

Jason was very, very quiet throughout the journey.......

I knew something was wrong and asked him wot me mum wanted to talk to him about?

Again I thought he was about to cry.

I asked him wots up? And demanded to know wot me mum said to him....

I got upset meself and started crying........

Jason wouldn't tell me.....

He made some poor excuse that she just wanted to know how I was....

I knew that he wasn't telling me the truth.....

We got back to the hotel.......

Merv was waiting for me and gave me a big hug in front of Leo and Billy!

The lads now knew that me and Merv had something going between us.

Jason asked Merv if he wanted to stay tonight with me in the staff quarters.......

Merv looked at me and we both said "yes please" practically at the same time.

I thanked Jason for the lift....

He couldn't look me in the eyes...

Something wasn't right....and he knew that I knew as well....

Later that evening I went to see Jason......

I knocked on the door to his flat and Dylan answered the door.....

He hesitated before letting me in

I found Jason in just a tee shirt and shorts.....

It was so obvious he had been crying......

He waved me over and as I sat down next to him, he wrapped his arm around me.....

I was now very scared and nervous as it's obvious that something is wrong with my mum.......

Wot he then told me absolutely devastated and practically destroyed me......

I cried my eyes out........

Update in real time......

As Pat was writing the final paragraph of part 2499 last night, I did advise him only to write it if he was sure and ok with it.....

Unfortunately, it got the better of him and he broke down in floods of tears and was shaking from head to foot......

He had a very bad night and it took me, Dylan, Tony and Merv to calm him down.

His sleeping at the moment as he managed to fall asleep laying down on the sofa and we left him their.

Merv wouldn't leave his side.

I have been in contact with his doctor and explained the situation to him......

As you know.....Pat went off the rails a bit when his dad died when he was 10.....

He did receive some professional help at that time.

His doctor wants to see him at 1.20pm today.

I have been in contact with his mum.

Part 2501

Update.......

Pat has been to his doctors....I went with him....

The doctor has arranged counselling for him and gave me the telephone number of Marie Curie to phone so they can offer Pat support.

The following bit of writing is heart breaking as it mentions what Pat's mum spoke to me about and then the conversation I had with Pat later on in the evening.

I have permission from Pat to write this, as he wanted it written but didn't feel strong enough in his self to write it.

When we arrived at the hospital after her operation, mum sent him to get the coffees so she could speak with me privately......

I noticed that the consultant came over to the bed and drew the curtains around us........

He told me that her cancer has spread to her neck and brain and the prognosis is it's terminal with a life expectancy of 6-12 months.

He was straight to the point, which in a sense was the correct way. I didn't need the flannel or bullshit and neither did Pat's mum.

The consultant looked at me and told me that she asked him to tell it as it was too me.

The consultant then left.....

Pat's mum then asked me if I could tell Pat as if she tells him here he will 'go off on one' and probably do something stupid. He's not very good with bad news....

She went on to tell me that Pat will need lots of support.......

She asked if I would look out for him, to support him, to keep him on the straight and narrow...

She apologised for putting this on me, but their is no other family members and Pat thinks I'm the "bees knees" .........

"When his Dad died, Pat tried to take his own life.....I'm worried he will try it again"

I felt for her, I felt the grief in her voice and I realised that I'm the only adult Pat has in his life now.......

I promised her that I will look after him.......

We both started crying and she again apologised for putting this on me and thanked me.....

When me and Pat left the hospital and got back to the hotel, it was obvious Pat knew something was wrong and I wasn't being totally honest with him....

Thank god that Merv was in reception and consoled him......

I went to my flat and cried....in fact I sobbed....

Dylan saw me in this state and I explained the situation to him...

He immediately got on the radio and asked Arlo to come to the flat..

Arlo arrived and he sat down..

He saw I was very emotional and asked "wot the hells happened?"

I explained the situation to him and apologised if it is bringing back bad memories about his twin brother.

This is the advise he gave me when I tell Pat........

"Be open and honest with him.

When talking to him, there will be an instinct to try to protect him from the horrors and sadness of the diagnosis and prognosis.

However, the most important thing is to have an open and honest conversation with him, although this may feel like it is going against your instinct to protect, but in fact, by giving him the information you are protecting him from a future where he feels he cannot trust you.

Half-truths or inaccurate information can cause more problems, as trust is so important at such a challenging time."

Thank you Arlo, I needed to hear that and I respect your advice which I know was a bit upsetting for me.

I'm so sorry, but I'm in floods of tears at the moment writing this so will continue when I have managed to gain my composure.......

Thank you all so much for your comments and Dm's giving your support and encouragement......

After discussing how we should write about how I told Pat about his Mum, Pat is hesitant about the details.

Their was me, Pat, Merv and Arlo involved in this discussion and it was the sensible Arlo that suggested that the decision on whether it is told or not must be Pat's......

15 minutes ago mother hen Tony came into my flat with Dylan.....

Tony immediately smothered Pat with a hug........

Obviously the bit about me telling Pat about his Mum is in the past, and at this minute we are in real time. So obviously we have already dealt with this.....

Tony was really angry with us and told us all in no uncertain terms that if Pat doesn't want to write it then nobody should..

I must add here, as you are aware, that Pats Mum passed away nearly 9 months ago, it was actually Tony that took Pat under his wing. Tony is Pat's support along with Leo.

Tony is very protective of Pat!!

He's the 'Father' figure to him, not me.

It was therefore decided that all that needs saying is I did tell Pat that his mum was dying and it was very emotional indeed.

I'm sure you fully understand....

I feel very emotional at the moment as do all the lads.....

The story will continue as normal, tomorrow....

PAT here now....

First of all THANK YOU all so much for your messages and Dm's..

Back to the story.....

Yes Jason had the unfortunate task of telling me about my mum....

He told me with love and compassion but told me the truth and exactly how it is....

I appreciated his honestly....

We both had a good cry and hug....

I know I have already told you Jason but THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.

Jason let Merv stay the night with me and we were in his spare bedroom as he wanted to keep his eye on me.

The next morning I found Tony (Love you to bits Tony!) And Leo visiting me.......

I didn't sleep to well and the lovely Tony and Leo took me and Merv to their flat.....

Ian joined us and they told me about their own Mum passing away.

Since then Tony has been my guardian angel!!!

He took me to the hospital every day!

My catering college was being a total unsympathetic bunch of tossers and told me that I have missed too much training so will have to do it all again next year!!

I told Jason who then told Dylan and Harry!

Harry went off one big time and I mean big time!!!

So much so that Dylan laughted and told Harry to sort it out.....

I wasn't present at the time, but Billy told me that Harry phoned my catering college and gave them one hell of a bollocking.....

When I returned to the hotel after seeing me mum Leo asked me to step into the office as he wanted a word with me......

I immediately panicked thinking I've done something wrong?

The next minute Dylan and Harry arrived and both gave me a hug....

Harry was hopping from foot to foot which I later learnt he does when his angry?

He told me that my catering college are absolutely cold hearted bastards and it is totally unacceptable that I have to resit it next year....

He then said that if I wanted to go full time at the hotel from now, he will personally train me and get me through the exams......

Wow!!! Thank you Harry!!

Dylan smiled, looked at Leo and said "can't argue with that, looked back at me, and asked if I wanted to go full time here as of now?"

I started getting tearful and Harry put his arm round my shoulders as I managed to say "yes please"....

Leo then produced a 'contract of employment' !!!

Hello peeps!!

It's HARRY, HARRY WEBBER here!!

Pat was right, I was hopping from foot to foot......I was fucking fuming!!

When Jason told us wot the so called piss poor catering college told Pat who then told Jason, who then told Dylan, which I overheard....

I lost my rag, only a little bit (!)

Nobody, but nobody was going to treat Pat, or in fact any of the hotels kitchen staff like that!!

It was unprofessional, unpleasant, and they showed no compassion towards him at all.....even though they knew his circumstances!!

Wot complete and utter, money grabbing bastards!

In front of both Dylan and Jason, in fact in front of all the kitchen staff, I made, how shall I say?, my views known in uncertain terms!!

Dylan was shocked by my outburst and told me that "if I wanted to sort it out, then do wot you think is necessary and I will support you"

I flew into Dylans office and phoned the catering college!!

After a heated exchange with sum stuck up receptionist (!) I was eventually put through to the colleges assistant principal.

What a bastard!!!

He had no compassion wotsoever and didn't care less about Pat....it was all about the "course pass rate!"

I was fuming and told him that if Pat has to retake the course again their is no need for him to remain at the college.....

I told him that I will be lodging a formal complaint with the college and also with the Education and Skills Funding Agency.....

The bastard practically laughted and told me that I can't as I'm not the student!!

Now I was hopping from foot to foot!

I slammed the phone down and went back into the kitchen.....

Dylan and Jason were nowhere to be seen......

I flew into reception to find Billy was on reception....

He pointed to the office...

I knocked and went in, and no I didn't wait to be asked to come in!!

I found Dylan, Jason and Leo sitting round the conference table....

Dylan asked if I had "sorted it"

I was still hopping from foot to foot and told them bluntly that "Pat is not going back to that piece of shit college and I want him to go full-time here and I will mentor him if necessary!"

Jason asked me "if I'm asking or telling him?"

He smiled as did Dylan and Leo, but I was still angry so just said "yea I'm asking you if I can tell you!"

Dylan laughted....

Leo then handed me a piece of paper.

It was a full time contract of employment for Pat!!

They had already pre-judged wot I thought!!

It was nice to see how supportive you were and still with Pat.

Anyway......

The new extension is built and Zak is back in his bedroom along with Noah and Dean and Ethan and Tyler.

I have a feeling that Adam and Sebastian's relationship is going strong and John tells me that they are in LOVE big time, and will soon be asking if they can move into the staff quarters!!

The Business Centre, under the Directorship of Aiden and management of Dean only has 2 offices left to rent out!!!

To be honest, with the rental from the suites and the mail and telephoning services etc it is a little gold mine....it's making me a nice sum of money!!

The Flowery run by Noah with the help of Zak is so busy that Noah is interviewing for another helper!

I'm so proud of Noah as when he started the Flowery he became a member of the British Florist Association and the Flowery and Noah had won 3 awards!!

It got a 'highly commended' award and the 2nd was for being in the top 10 for the Wedding/Event Florist of the Year.

The 3rd award, I'm extremely proud of Noah for this, was he was 'commended' in the category for being Floristry Student and Tutor of the Year........

His awards and rosettes are proudly framed on the Flowery wall!!!

Everything is going well, the money is rolling in and the lads are happy in their work!!

Obviously we still have Pat to deal with and he's visiting his mum every day........but I will give him his dues....he works, as arranged with Harry every morning from 05.15am to 2.00pm and then goes and sees his mum.

His doing well to be honest and has managed to make a good impression with the diners at the carvery which he does every Sunday and has managed to bake his first cakes!

A lovely Victoria sponge cakes (x 5) for the lads after evening meal...

To be fair and honest, and I'm probably going to get kicked or punched by Harry and Liam, but it was exactly what a Victoria sponge should taste like!!!

In fact the lads finished off the 5 cakes by having 'seconds' and in Merv's case 'thirds'!!

Pat wanted to have a party to celebrate him becoming full time, as the normal for new full timers, but thought it was a bit inappropriate considering his mum being in hospital?

He asked my advice.......

I was in two minds to be honest...

I fully understood where he was coming from on one hand, but on the other his life has to continue and perhaps a good party would take his mind of things?

Merv agreed with me but told Pat that the decision is his and nobody will be upset if he doesn't want a party....

Just then Harry came into my flat to speak to Dylan.......

Pat said he would go to let them talk but Harry asked him to stay as it concerned him......

Merv quickly disappeared saying he will see Pat in the bar.......

Pat looked worried......

Harry, Pat and Dylan sat down and Harry told Dylan that Pat is a good chef and he wants him to be the lead chef on breakfast tomorrow and also the lead chef for this coming sunday carvery!!

Pat smiled and then Harry told him that his next stage is learning the afternoon teas.....

Pat was really happy.....

Pat left to meet Merv in the bar and Harry told us that his initial thoughts of Pat being a 'dipstick' and a bit slow was totally wrong!

Apparently Pat is a very quick learner and his 'knife skills' are really good. Catering is his forte!

Yes you might have to tell him and show him more than once how to do things, but then the end result is great....look at the cake he baked from scratch?

We all headed to the bar and found Pat, Merv, John, Henry, Arlo and Aiden sitting at a table laughing and joking!!

Yes even Pat was laughing...which was so nice to see and hear.

Pat called me over and told me he would like a party after all!!

Aiden, being bloody Aiden, asked him what "theme" his party is going to take?

When Pat said he didn't know yet, bloody Aiden told him to have a birthday suit party as he wants to see him and Merv naked!!

Pat gave Aiden a funny look and asked him......"you want to see me and Merv naked?"

Aiden laughted and told him about his party 'special'

Both Pat and Merv looked at each other and then Josh told them "that Aiden wants you Pat to face fuck him when Merv is sucking him and I'm fucking him! But of course you 2 can swop around if you wanted"

Arlo sighed at the suggestion and called Aiden a complete "sex mad toss pot"...

John and Henry came to see me and Leo.

They told us that Noah is struggling with space in the Flowery now he is busy......

Aaron did a new marketing campaign for the Flowery and decided, with Noah's consent, to try and do more 'online' business for delivery of flowers to people to celebrate birthdays etc etc?

In the first month it increased the number of bouquets by 32%....

Well done Aaron!!

I was now worried that with his Pilates classes Noah is 'burning both ends of the stick'

And before you ask.... no he hasn't been claiming overtime!!

I pulled him up on this and the cheeky little sod told me that "I'm a director of the Flowery and directors get paid at the end of the financial year, the amount depending on how succesful the year has been. Thats my overtime pay"

He then smiled at me.....

I couldnt argue with his logic....

Anyway......

John and Henry said that the other 'outhouse' next door to the Flowery is empty and in a bit of a run down condition. They said that Adam and Sebastian could refurbish it and that would give Noah nearly twice as much space as he has now.

John also said that he has been in contact with the local council and apparently the 4 outbuilding were in the past used as commercial workshops and already have a "Certificate of Lawful Use" meaning we don't need planning permission.

I called Noah into the office.....

John explained his plan to him and Noah thought it was ideal as if he employs another helper, with 3 of them in their, they will be treading on each others toes. Plus more orders mean more flowers, boxes, tapes, sticks, sellotape, plus packing area, meaning less room for staff!

Noah asked for a costing breakdown so he can see how much it will cost.

Henry looked at me and then at Noah.

Noah informed him that the Flowery is a seperate entity from the hotel and it's not fair that the hotel pays the cost.

Pat had come back from visiting his mum and has decided that he does want a party and the theme is a towel and slider party.

The only thing you can wear are sliders and a towel!!

The lads were all for that as we have never had a towel theme before.

Their is always one!!! And it wasn't Aiden!

It was Connor that said "ok..... but I'm wearing my towel around my neck!"

Pat didn't think about that!!

Aiden's eyes widen and told Connor that, that was a bloody good idea!

So....Friday night for the party!

Ethan wasn't happy!!! As he was on the rota to work reception until Simon comes in to start his night shift.....

They say that animals have a 6th sense........

It has been noticed that Smudge has been very friendly with Pat.... every time Pat sits down in the bar, reception or the dining room, Smudge heads towards him and tries to sit on his lap!!!

Every night he waits by the front door at 8.30pm for Pat to come back from the hospital and then follows him around.

Ian told me that earlier on in the week he had to collect him from the staff quarters and Pat's bedroom!!

Merv snapped out of this 'event' very quickly after downing the brandy Roger got him.

Pat was still a bit distraught as he hasn't ever witnessed anybody suffering from PTSD before.....

Merv excused himself and told us he needs a good workout in the gym now to clear his head.....

Aiden has just told him that a 'events company' based at the Business centre need a regular supplier of flowers/bouquets for the events they organise and are interested in meeting him to see if they can 'make a deal'

Noah then said....."their supplier at the moment is charging on average £35.00 per bouquet. I can do them for £25.00....thats nearly £13,000.00 per month or £156,000.00 a year! If we get that contract then I'm going to need another full time staff or 3 part time ones!"

"They want to visit tomorrow to see the Flowery in operation.... I need the extension now please Jason!!"

Aaron heard what was happening and came over to us....

Aaron told Arlo.. "we need to start now, getting photos, blow them up, laminate them etc and yes please your help would be appreciated"

"Let's get started now then" Arlo replied.....

John and Henry was near by and saw Arlo and Aaron head out to their office and they came over and asked if everything was ok?

Noah explained saying he will need the extension built ASAP especially if they get this contract.....

When Noah told them that the prospective client was visiting tomorrow to see how the Flowery operates........

John and Henry immediately said they will go to the Flowery now and tidy it up a bit for him.......

I thought Noah was going to cry and told them...."oh...thanks, let's go now......"

Harry being the nosy sod he is, told Noah that he will prepare sum meals and hot drinks for his visitors and serve them in the Orangery. He will get Pat to help him prepare it.

He then asked Noah to phone them in the morning and ask how many will be visiting and to tell them they can have a meal over the contract discussions.

Next morning.....

I couldn't sleep.....too much on my mind....

04.45am.....

I was down at reception talking to Simon....

He told me that the lads had a very late night last night....

John was at the local 24hr tesco superstore buying picture frames for the Flowery at 02.30am!!

I got the Flowery keys and went to have a look....

Bloody hell......

I could smell fresh paint among the smell of flowers.

The walls now had framed photographs of flowers, bouquets, arrangements that Noah had done, wedding photos etc etc on them.

And it had been tidied up!!!

I got back to reception to see John, Zak and Noah just leaving to go to the flower wholesalers.

John really looked tired.

The next minute, Harry appeared, gave Simon a cup of coffee and a sandwich and then gave me a hug!

Apparently Harry always makes Simon a coffee and a sandwich at 05.15am!

Then Pat and Merv appear.

These 3 are on breakfast duty.

He asked me if it was ok for him and John to have the morning off so they can have a sleep?

Breakfast.....06.15am

Pat was the lead chef for the first time.......

Harry and Pat came out of the kitchen and Harry told us, and I quote verbatim!!

"Ok....a different breakfast for you this morning. Pat is lead chef so we were following his orders! So don't shoot me please!"

He then asked Pat to tell us what's for breakfast......

"It's called a Shakshuka. It's a North African and Middle Eastern dish featuring eggs poached in a flavorful sauce of tomatoes, onions, and peppers. It's a satisfying, high-protein meal that also provides a full serving of vegetables."

The lads around the dining table all looked at each other!

Henry and Tony helped to serve the dish....

Mmmnnnnnn.

It looked liked one of them dishes that I call 'marmite'......

I'm either going to love it or hate it!!!

All I'm going to say about it is that he didn't make enough....the lads wanted more!!

It was such an unusual breakfast dish but to be honest it tasted very nice.....

And no, the lads didn't ask for more to cheer Pat up or make him feel good about himself, they said it because they loved it!!

11.30am......

3 people from this events company from the Business Centre arrive to have a look at the Flowery....

Aiden was in his office and immediately came out to see them and got them all a hot drink.....

5 minutes later Noah arrives dressed in his custom made 'Flowery' apron.

They all shake hands and then they went to the Flowery via Tony's golf buggy!!

45 minutes later they arrive back at reception.......

Aiden and Noah take them to the Orangery whereby Roger took their drinks order and gave them a menu each.

They all went for a roast beef dinner apart from the lady who choice the vegetarian option of Quorn Beef Roast Dinner with Roasted Garlic Gravy.

Roger served them a Bordeaux Medium-bodied red wine with their meal.

I was watching on the Cctv monitor as they were finishing their meal and relaxing and chatting, when my personal radio crackled in my ear asking me if I could come to the Orangery......

I got their and Aiden introduced me to the 3 prospective clients....

They praised the Business Centre and Aiden and Dean on how well it is run.....

They also loved the Flowery and the arrangements and designs produced by Noah.....

We spoke about what events they cater for and they mentioned that they are in contact with Aaron at the moment arranging a wedding here.

Crunch time......has Noah done enough to convince them to use the Flowery?

Will he get the contract?

Noah thanked them for visiting and asked them to consider the Flowery in their plans.....

One of them stood up and said "we don't need to go away and consider as we have already made our minds up"

The main man of the events company shook Noah's hand and said "thanks Noah, we would very much like to give you all of our business, with immediate effect. If you agree, we will pay you 50% of invoice on us placing the order and the other 50% on completion of order and when we pick them up."

Noah shook his hand harder and told him he has a deal......

The bloke then pulled out of his pocket next weeks flower order.

Bloody hell, the total was for £3,100.00 worth of bouquets!

He then took out a credit card and told Noah to take £1,550.00 as agreed as 50% upfront.

Noah asked to be excused and he will get his credit card machine from the Flowery.

Noah was back within 5 minutes!!!

The transaction was approved....

We all shook hands and the 3 event people left.....

Now he has to get the logistics right and get the right number and style of arrangements ready by the day required!!

John and Henry then arrived asking how it went?

When Noah told them, they had a group hug and told him that they will now help Adam and Sebastian and get it done and extended ASAP.

They then told Noah they will get on it now and left to go to the Flowery.

Harry came in and saw all the smiles and told Noah "well done mate, your smile tells me you done it.... congratulations"

Noah told Harry that it was the lovely meal and hospitality that clinched the deal.....

Harry told him he had better thank Pat then....as he cooked the meals!

It soon got round that Noah won the contract and Aiden had already had words with Arlo to find new staff for the Flowery.

All the lads came and congratulated Noah.
