Id turned 40 and moved to a new town to start a new job, new home, new car , new start.

I stood infront of the mirror in my apartment, time to rejoin a gym i said to myself as I surveyed my chunky boxe clad reflection, id always been on the stocky side, and being a rugby player that had been in my favour, but turning the big 4 0 made me reassess myself.

I scrolled through websites of Gyms in the locale, posh gyms, your run of the mill generic gym, gyms attaches to leisure centres and the like, then when id almost given up, one advert caught my attention.

I fired off a quick email and soon had a reply inviting me to attend a taster and introduction session that coming friday at 7pm, this worked perfect as i could pop round after work.

Friday came and on leaving work jumped in my car and soon arrived outside, Powerhouse Gym.

At the reception i was informed Steve would meet me in the weight room in 5 mins and that i could get changed and meet him there.

The gym was very quiet for a friday i changed into shorts and vest top and headed to the weight room.

It all looked great nice modern vibe good music nice atmosphere, a few guys were there making use of the top notch equipment.

A guy around 20 raised a hand in greeting then jogged over to me, wearing tight grey joggers and a navy vest his name badge (steve) pinned to his top stretched over his big pecs.

We shook hands and i clocked his strong muscular arms.

Wow i thought this guy is hot, id certainly picked wisely

I was a member of a gym years ago. There was this guy there most every time I went. After a few months I could almost sense his eyes stripping me as we both went through our routines sometimes side by side sometimes on opposite sides of the gym. Eventually we had starting saying "hi" and acknowledging each other.

One time he was not there during my workout. After I had finished I went into the empty changing rooms and got into the end shower cubicle. Gym induction over, and soon settled into routine of regular attendance after work , soon got to know a few other regulars and we would chat and swap workout tips. Steve was there most times to keep an eye on proceedings and to offer advice were needed.

It was a few days later, i was in the gym before work for a change i was layed flat on a weight bench my arms outstretched gripping a weighted Barbell, a shadow loomed over me it was Steve, Good form he said ,make sure you engage your elbows and go slow to really pump those triceps
