Hijacking stories

I’ve written a few stories over the years on here, some, well mostly, where on my old account, lately I’ve noticed that stories are being hijacked by others, now, if you have a story to tell, the “ post new topic” bar is literally right above all the stories, myself aswell as others put a lot of time into writing them so why the need to jump on and start your own half way through.

All my stories that I’ve written have been accounts of actual events, events in which I’ve decided to share with others on here, yes I’ve been lucky in the fact of the men I’ve met during my travels in my truck, I don’t want to stop writing as I find it rather relaxing, so, for the love of the stories please stop hijacking others stories.

Thankyou

I couldn’t agree more, there is nothing worse than getting into a story and then someone has decided to share their story mid way through. It throws the original story out of whack.

Absolutely agree. All should be encouraged to post, but in their own threads and just keep it to comments on other's stories, in other's threads. I also get a bit annoyed at the grammar police. Whilst it is important, in most cases poor grammar doesn't make a story unreadable, so why comment. This isn't a writing competition.

Thanks also for your efforts, have really enjoyed what you have shared.

I think the trouble is some people just don't understand the etiquette, maybe too nervous to make there own post, or maybe just don't think they have enough material to warrant their own thread?

I think, and now I am in danger of saying too much myself in a comment lol, if you are going to add your own related experience if it is more that a couple of sentences or lines, then that crosses the threshold where you should be posting your own thread, even if that just ends as a one paragraph entry.

Plus, James, please finish your story as there are plenty of us who have been enjoying it and want to have more...

Agreed. Also if a story takes a turn you don't like then don't ruin it for others by leaving a negative comment. If something happens in a story I don't enjoy I simply stop reading it

Problem seems to be some pists invite others stories, some dont and some peopke are easily confused.

I know this isnt a english writing forum, but i do find sone punctuation and short paragraphs do make stories, easier to read, especially on a phone. I get put off by seeing lines of unbroken text. Maybe thats why ive never read Joyces Ulysees, plus cant bloody understand it either.

Along with the type who use the "reply on forum" function. In the directory, find newly added comments. Hoping to find the next chapter. You pan down 4 paragraphs cut and pasted, to find a thumb.

175. 135 of which are thumbs.

Dundee (Barnhill)

.

Well that reminds me. Forgot to tell you all what happened to me just last week.

I was walking in town when a voice shouted........

Sorry, couldn't resist.

.

I have contributed a personal experience to a thread - a paragraph or three - but only if it was on topic. I have had my forum tales where people have started a new topic in the responses. I even had one where someone said to person A "hey.... where you been?" and they had a ping-pong of messages in my thread. ????????????

My bugbear of "hijacking" is people quoting a whole message from someone or a whole chapter in a tale to post a thumbs up
