Cal:
We all decided to leave the club and look for somewhere to have a quieter drink. Aaron led us to what looked like a restaurant, but it was actually a late night drinking den, popular among the city’s arty, alternative crowd. It was cosy and relaxing and Kirk was being well looked after by Sean and Aaron. Danny had joined us too, though now wearing his Mr Ordinary clothes. ‘You ok now?’ I asked Kirk.
‘Yeah, fine,’ he said, ‘thanks,’ he added, looking at me and Aaron in particular.
Sean put his arm around Kirk, while Danny said, ‘you got unlucky. Everyone in that place knows that ‘no means no’, it’s one of the basic rules.’
‘It’s ok,’ Kirk said, ‘I had been eyeing him up earlier, so it is partly my fault.’
‘It’s not,’ said Danny firmly, ‘that’s how men get away with all sorts.’
‘Yes, he’s right,’ said Aaron, ‘but don’t let that idiot put you off dressing how you want and having fun.’
‘Yeah, you look too good in that gear to stop wearing it,’ said Sean, ruffling Kirk’s hair as he did so.
Kirk smiled and looked at me and said, ‘I’m ok, honest.’
Kirk:
I had been badly shaken by what had happened with ‘red spiky’, but Dad, Aaron and Danny kept reassuring me while Sean kept his arm protectively around me and after a couple of beers I began to relax and feel myself again. It was already well after 2am and the bar was thinning out, so it was time to move on. Sean whispered in my ear, ‘come back to my place, I’ll give you a massage and anything else you want.’
‘I’m going back to Sean’s,’ I declared to everyone.
‘OK, shall we meet at the hotel at noon then?’ Dad asked.
I looked at Sean who nodded to show that would be ok, ‘sure,’ I said.
‘Come on then, let’s get a taxi,’ said Sean as we got up to leave.
Cal:
With just me, Danny and Aaron left in the bar, I was unsure what to suggest, then Danny said, out of the blue, ‘well, thanks for an eventful night, I need to go home as I’ve got work tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll leave you to it.’ I thought I was going to end up back at his place, but now I was left alone with Aaron, the first time this had happened since Christmas.
‘He must have got what he wanted,’ said Aaron, smiling at me, ‘shame I haven’t.’
‘What do you want,’ I said, meeting his eye and holding his stare.
He looked at me and licked his lips, ‘to have the father as well as the son,’ he replied. |
