Part 2732

His mum managed to compose herself saying she was pleased he got to work safety, she really does hate him riding his moped.

The day went ok...Hugh has managed to sell another 2 cars and Gerry has rented out all the rental cars and vans.

We really need more stock!!

Barnaby was out on a onsite shooting event for the local youth club.

Chase was also out onsite at a large country manor using his drones to take aerial shots of the house and grounds and swimming pool, tennis court and Equestrian area and stables.

Joe phoned me and asked if I "wanted a laugh"?

The chain of hotels that wanted to buy my hotel and used every tactic in the book to get me to sell it to them has a bit of a financial issue and has put 3 of their hotels on the market!!

The fucking cheeky bastards asked Joe if I would be interested in buying one of them, similar to this one!!

I asked Joe what he thought or said to them?

He told me the following....

"It was short and sweet, I told them you would give them a 2 word answer and the 2nd word is off!"

I laughted so loud both Billy and Aj came rushing into my office to make sure I was ok and not choki*g!

Next day, Sunday.....

1.45pm....

Rhys and his parents and sister arrive to try our carvery.

John shows them to their table and tells them that Chantell will be their waitress today and Harry and Liam are the carvery chefs....

On one of my regular walk abouts, I was walking through the carvery talking to the diners, when I came across Rhys table........

Rhys introduced me to his Mum amd Dad and sister. I had already met his dad but not his mum or sister.

His mum looked embarrassed when she saw me and apologised for the phone call yesterday....

Rhys looked at her and asked why she phoned me?

I laughted....

"Because your mum wanted to make sure that you arrived safety on your moped due to the bad weather, nothing else mate, she was just concerned about you!"

Rhys now looked embarrassed!!

They went up to the carvery and Harry was serving the meat selection.....

Rhys introduced his parents and sister to him and Harry being Harry, his 'Harry-itus' took over....

"Well obviously you didn't get your parents good looks did you mate!"

It was meant as a harmless joke, but had not so good consequences.

I told Chantell I will pay for Rhys family carvery....

The carvery was extremely busy today and John was rushed off his feet meeting and greeting and clearing the tables ready for the next diners.

The bar was busy as well.

I noticed Arlo, Aiden and Chase in the office going through the drone footage...

I reminded them that it was a Sunday!

All I got from Arlo was "well, if it needs doing, I say do it!"

Harry let Liam carve the meats as he wanted to talk to me....

Harry looked a bit upset....

"Dad, I think my 'harry-itus' has got me in trouble again. I think I might have upset Rhys and his parents?"

He told me what he said.....

Oh Harry.......

I went back to the carvery, just as Rhys and his family were leaving and I apologised to them if Harry upset them in anyway?

Rhys Dad insisted on paying for the carvery as Harry didn't upset them at all....

I smiled ....

"I think you got your wires a bit crossed their, I never paid for your meal because I thought Harry upset you. I brought the meals because that what I do for all new staff and their families!"

Rhys looked at me....."it was my treat for them for looking after me Jason, so I would like to pay you for the carvery please, irrespective of what me dad says,...please Jason!"

I saw Rhys eyes get a bit wet as did his Mums eyes...

I thought that Rhys really does want to pay for the meal and then realised what he actually said...."for looking after me?"

I realised that I might have made a massive mistake by paying for their meal.....

I apologised to Rhys and said "how do you wish to pay? Cash or card?"

He handed me his debit card and I waved over Chantell and asked her to use Rhys card to pay his table bill.

At that moment Nathan came in with a bouquet of flowers and handed them to Rhys, saying "As you ordered Rhys" .....he winked at him.

Rhys sussed it straight away and handed the bouquet to his Mum saying 5 words to her....

"Thanks for being me mum"

Me and Nathan walked away leaving them to it......

I watched them leave....

5 minutes later I saw Rhys and his Dad walk back in and speak to Aj on reception.

My radio crackled...."Jason to reception please"

I walked to reception and saw Rhys Dad had his arm round Rhys shoulders.

He asked if they could speak to?

The 3 of us went into my office.....

Rhys and his Dad sat very close to each other and his Dad had his arm round Rhys shoulders.

They were looking at each other... if you ask me it was true love between Father and Son....

The Dad spoke first......

"I think Harry, who Rhys says is a good judge of character, might have sussed things out? I might be wrong, but we both think you have the right to know about Rhys."

I put my hand up to stop him talking.....

"Thank you, but the past is the past. It can't be changed. We can only look forward to the future. And both Tom and William told me that Rhys was the ideal candidate for the job even though he was the least qualified. I personally see a young lad with a great future not only in the gym world but here at the hotel. You don't have to explain anything to me that you feel uncomfortable with. And no, Harry hasn't sussed anything out other than he thinks he might have said something that upset him."

Rhys had tears in his eyes now....

(I'm writing this obviously with the permission of Rhys and his family. But......I feel it's too personal to Rhys and family that I write anything about it. Rhys has expressed a wish that if anybody writes anything it should be him. His parents obviously don't have access to this story but they know I'm writing about the hotel and staff as part of my autobiography/Memoirs. Rhys has written down what he wants to say and for you to know and we are both going through it and altering, deleting and adding things. It should be ready for putting on here later.....I WARN YOU NOW...GET THE TISSUES READY.....

Hello readers...

My names is RHYS and when I joined the hotel 16 months ago I was aged about 20.

The only part of that paragraph that I know is true is I joined the hotel 16 months ago.....

I don't know my real name or my date of birth.

But first I would like to thank Jason, Dylan, the lovely Harry, Leo and Tony who took me "Under their wings"

And extra special love and thanks to the people I call Mum, Dad and sister.

Right here goes.......

20 years and 10 months ago I was found in a cardboard box outside a local church with a simple note attached to my baby grow which said "I'm so sorry...please take care of him"

I still have that note which I have laminated so it's in the same condition as it was......

I was told I was cold, hungry and crying which attracted the local vicar to find me outside the doors to the church.

He took me into the vicarage and called the Police.

Even though the vicar has moved Parishes many times on the anniversary of the day he found me, he always sends me a 'birthday' card. I have spoken to him on the phone every year since.

His name....well his name is Rhys..

I was named after him by the hospital staff and my "Mum and Dad" decided to keep it.

My mum and dad were 'emergency foster carers' and I'm the luckiest lad alive as they decided to formally adopt me.....

I was registered at the General Records Office as a 'Foundling' as a abandoned child is referred to as a foundling (as opposed to a runaway or an orphan).

Ater the police investigation which failed to find my natural mother, the register records the estimated date of birth, the date I was found, and the location where I was found.

My official date of birth recorded is purely a guess of my age when I was found.

My mum and dad have never hid the fact I was adopted by them and when I was 10 they thought I was old enough to be told the truth.

Rhys the vicar never mentioned that he found me until I was 10. He used to just phone and say 'happy birthday'. I always thought, until then that he helped my mum and dad adopt me as it was their local church.

Well.....thats it...

I'm lucky to be alive and have the best Mum and Dad I could ever wish for....

Those that sent personal Dm's, thank you, im trying to answer them all as soon as I can.

Well, obviously I'm still working at the hotel and still working in the gym....

Tom promoted me!!!

Yes....I got promoted! Tom sent me on a part time gym instructor course at college and I passed it! I was chuffed to bits and then Tom promoted me to be the lead instructor on the fitness boot camp on Wednesday afternoons!! Graham helps me....

When I first took charge of it, it had 14 people in the class. Now it's regularly 20+..

Harry is my best friend now at the hotel and he has even been to my mum and dad's home for dinner!! Me mum loves Harry and is constantly telling him!!

She loves Luke as well and keeps telling them that it's obvious they are madly in love with each other.

Now me mum and dad know that a majority of the hotel staff are gay and live together in the staff flats and also know that Dylan is Jason's husband....

Im pleased to say that they don't mind or object but me dad keeps asking me if im gay!!!

No dad im not gay!!

It was funny when me sister, the wind up merchant, when Harry and Luke was at my house asked us 3 if we have ever had a 3-sum!!

Me dad told her to wash her mouth out....

But I was shocked when me mum said "well i cant think of any better lads than Harry and Luke"...

Jesus christ Mum!!! Im not gay, their just my best friends!!! I don't care that their gay or straight...their my friends!!

Thank you Rhys for writing that. I know the first part was very hard for you to write...

Also thank you to the readers for the many, many Dm's received giving Rhys support, advice and love.

Rhys dad is the manager of a well known food cash and carry warehouse and by us going their every 2 weeks, instead of us having weekly deliveries from our present wholesalers, we are saving over a £1,000 a month!!

Ok, the hotel 'loses' 2 staff for a couple of hours every fortnight but their being paid anyway so not a big deal to be honest.

Tony drives the van and the kitchen staff takes it in turns to do the shop.

The exception to this is Harry....

When Dylan told the staff, Harry had a panic attack and a bit of a meltdown.....he was so worried about his bloody tea trolley and the staff not being fed!!

I'm at fault and should have noticed earlier but Harry does his tea trolley rounds every day....every day? Does he work 7 days a week? I'm sure the rota says he has 2 days off a week?

It become a natural sight to see Harry and his trolley every day, that people just accepted seeing him!!

I had words with Leo and Billy and asked them if they noticed?

Billy, when I told him, realised Harry does, and said he will have words with him as he can't be working 7 days a week and was sure that the staff working on Harry's days off could manage the tea trolley.....

Leo started laughing..."good luck with that Billy! Make sure your wearing body armour and a crash helmet when you tell him!"

I looked at Leo.....he knew Harry does his tea trolley round every day and told me that him and Dylan agreed it was easier to let him do it then argue with him as Harry was going to do it regardless!

Now that makes sense as I know, and I think you readers know, what Harry is like!

Just as we were discussing this, guess what? Harry came into reception with his tea trolley!!

He saw me, Leo and Billy looking at him and said "wot you looking at? Want a bloody photo and autograph?"

Billy, jesus he was brave(!), asked Harry......"is it your day off today and working overtime but doing the normal bit of NOT claiming overtime?"

Leo looked at me and I looked at him!

Bloody hell Billy....'Stand by for action!'

If looks could kill....Billy would be 6' under by now......

Harry, (god I love you so much son)

simply said........

"Do you want something to eat and drink? Or do you want to bloody wear it?..either way is fine by me but the 2nd choice is a bit messy"

Billy gulped......

"Can I please have a cheese and ham sandwich and a coffee?"

Harry poured a coffee from his urn and got a sandwich for him....

He put the coffee on the desk and handed him the coffee, giving Billy a hug at the same time...

Barnaby has another all day shooting event abily assistant by Tony.

Hugh and Gerry had another 10 cars for sale delivered and another 4 rental cars and 3 vans delivered.

It was Scott's birthday, (25), on Thursday and he asked if he could have a party?

Do bears shit in the woods? Lol

He wanted a "pool party" in our swimming pool, with various games like water polo...

Pool Volleyball/Basketball: Set up a net or hoop for structured team competition.

Sharks and Minnows: One person is the shark in the middle, trying to tag "minnows" swimming from one side to the other.

Noodle Jousting: Players sit on floats and try to knock each other off using pool noodles.

Relay Races: Use pool noodles as horses or hold sponges, racing from one end to the other.

Underwater Treasure Hunt: Toss diving sticks, rings, or weighted coins into the pool for guests to find.

Invisible Bottle: Fill a clear 2-liter bottle with pool water and cap it; it becomes nearly impossible to see underwater.

Squirt Gun Races: Use water guns to push plastic ducks or ping pong balls across the pool.

Floating Tic-Tac-Toe: A simple, strategic game for floating in the water.

Frozen T-Shirt Game: Freeze t-shirts solid and see who can thaw and put theirs on first.

I must confess that did sound like fun!!

Scott then said...."of course swimwear can be worn but it would be more fun if naked!

So it was arranged for Friday night. Dylan said he would put on a buffet and Jack said he didn't mind being the drinks waiter as he couldn't swim anyway!!!

Rhys was excited as this would be his first hotel party and he asked if he could stay overnight!!

What Scott didn't realise was the lads were going to put on a surprise party for him anyway and have already got his birthday presents hidden in a storeroom. Must be over 50 presents!!!!

Hello Rhys. I see that there have been quite a few supporting you and admitting that they too, are adopted. I can feel for you as I fostered a young man of 12yrs fifty years ago. I didn't adopt, but that young man stayed with me until he found his own life. I consider him to still be my son. And he thinks of me as his father. The love that your parents have for you is UNCONDITIONAL. They will always love you and support you. No need to keep thanking them - they know how you feel.

You will have a wonderful life from hereon. You now have an extended, loving family. Enjoy you new life.

Hello readers....

Its SCOTT here!!

Jason's asked me if I want to write about my birthday and my pool party.

I thought, why not!!

At the time I was celebrating my 25th.

God I feel old now in real time.!!

On the Thursday, my birthday, I came in to do my normal 2-10pm shift.

Apart from Jason giving me a hug and wishing me a happy birthday nobody else did!

I was a bit disappointed.....

Barnaby was out doing a shooting event but he phoned to wish me a happy birthday.

Now me and Barnaby aren't actually boyfriends but we do have regular fun, if you know what I mean? Im sure you do!!

I was restocking the bar and the lads did say hello and ask if I'm ok, but nobody said happy birthday even though they all know about my birthday pool party tomorrow night!

6.00pm.....

Evening meal called......

I was so disappointed I decided to give dinner a miss.....

Tony saw me and told me that dinner is being served. I told him I'm giving it a miss but he wasnt having any of that...he told me it's part of the team building, eating and chatting together.

Some bloody team!!!

They couldn't even be bothered to wish me a happy birthday!!

Tony was insistent so I followed him to the staff dining room....

Hugh sold another 5 cars this week!

I went to the storage centre to see Hugh and Gerry....

We only had 5 cars left to sell and a van to rent, but Gerry was keeping that for the storage clients to use.

Hugh was repairing a car, which had slight damage to the wing.....he certainly is 'hands on'

We had a meeting in their office and both told me that they just don't have enough cars!!

Hugh made it very clear that getting the odd 5 or 6 cars at a time wasn't giving the potential customers a good varied selection to choice from. He also thought that having more cars would mean more sales and profit........

"We have the space for 40 or 50 cars here and make ourselves really known for car sales...and I'm sure that Arlo and Aaron can come up with all the advertising we need to sell them"

Hugh agreed with.....

They then produced a estimated target for cars to be sold, the investment needed and the potential profit. Plus the requirements for another member of staff to help them.

It required a huge investment that I knew would be £100,000 minimum....

Did I have faith and trust in Hugh and Gerry?

You bet I did!!

Hugh even knew where to source the cars from that needed little work to get them up to the standard for them to sell.

I told them to proceed with their plan and get the 3rd person on board.........
