Thankfully treatment for HIV is readily available and these days 98% of people with HIV in England are getting that treatment. They live normal lives and cannot pass HIV on to others. Opt out testing in A&E picks up a significant number of people who did not know they had HIV and gets them onto effective treatment.

HIV is still a risk, 810 gay or bisexual men contracted HIV in England in 2024 but unlike the 80's 90's etc they immediately get offered treatment to lead ordinary lives.

Wether you use condoms or not getting regular testing is the best thing we can all do to stop HIV

If you search SH 24 in Google you will find lots of information that you probably don't know about. Then get yourself registered with your local sexual health service, get up to date with vaccines for monkey pox, hepatitis and Ghoneria. Get PREP

Don't be embarrassed they are professionals and doctors and are not critical or judgemental of your sexuality in fact most doctors and nurses in my local clinic are gay.
