This stuff did/does happen, I know personally of many scenarios that are real and did take place.someone talked about it being too professional an industry, the hospitality of old was professional, it was also fueled by long hours, hard work hard drinking, hard living, many many staff lived on premises, it was an different environment because that was the way we lived. Bit like the swinging 60, just survived a bit longer. Yes it's an honourable profession today, but to say fun or challenging behaviours didn't happen is nieve.

Most duty mangers are from the FOH departments ie reception and food and beverage. Occasionally you might get someone from housekeeping or reservations as duty manager.
