Update.....

Please forgive us for slow responses to your Dm's regarding Troy's funeral.

The lads are greatly upset and we have about 40 of them actually going to the church service.

It gives me some weird kind of pleasure, that Troy's Dad has said I can inform you, that part of Troy's wishes was to be an 'organ donor'.

His heart, liver, kidneys and lungs, were donated and his parents have been told that all 4 has been used in various transplants already....

Update....

A very somber mood at the hotel...

Everybody, well 39 of us are in our hotel uniforms, and the coach has just arrived to take us to the church for Troy's funeral and cremation.

It was originally just me, Leo and Harry that was going to represent the hotel, but world war 3 broke out as the lads wanted (and needed) to pay their last respects.

Troy's parents agreed that anybody that wanted to come can come.

So afterwards the 'wake' being held here is for 96 people.....

Finlay, Tony and Simon have already left in our Rolls Royces and Bentley to use them as the funeral cars for Troy's family.

I'm extremely worried about certain lads, like Harry, Tom and William who are really upset.....

I'm sorry I can't write anymore at this time......

This is going to be very hard to handle to be honest.....

Update....

Harry, Harry Webber here....

What an emotional day....

I feel I need to write this...

Their was nearly a hundred people in the church for the service and Troy's wishes were only his family attend the committal at the crematorium.

We were all in the church as Troy's coffin arrived.

After prayers, some readings and 2 hymns, it was arranged for me to read a eulogy.

I was determined that I was going to read it without crying or breaking down. My lovely Luke stood beside me to support me in case I started wobbling.

My eyes were very red but I didn't, for once, cry, although I came close to it a few times and my voice went a couple of times.

After the service, Troy's coffin was carried out and placed in the hearse to be transported to the crematorium.

Finlay, Tony and Simon drove behind the hearse in our cars.

I had to remain strong for Troy's parents and for the lads...

It was Tom that broke down in floods of tears when Troy was carried out.

It was so nice to see Troy's mum and dad hug Tom.

They also hugged me.....

We all got back on board the coach to go back to the hotel for the 'wake'

The buffet, the soft music and the tables and chairs were already set out....

Troy's guests arrived and then 45 minutes later Troy's family arrived.

We all toasted Troy.....

I was determined not to cry but when Troy's younger sister hugged me and handed me a picture that she had drawn of me with 'wings' telling me that Troy really thought I was a 'angel' sent by God to care for people I cried my eyes out... and I mean I cried.

She hugged me tighter and then Troy's brother joined in with the hug.

Troy's family and guests left about 8pm.....

We are now in the bar and Jack has just handed us all a cinzano and tonic with a slice of orange. This was Troy's favourite drink.

TO TROY. RIP MATE.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but you will always be in our hearts.

Tony here...

My brother Ian has finished the memorial bench for Troy......

Its a 4 seater bench and is now in Ian's private garden...

I got a plaque made for it and it says.......

Jason here...

With all thats been happening especially with Troy, at 08.30am this morning I needed time to myself and chill and relax....

I went to Troy's memorial bench to sit and relax and think.....

As I got their, yes your correct, Smudge was curled up in a ball on it.....

The cake section was extremely busy.

So, it was the official opening day of the new cake section in the coffee shop.

Oh God...

Poor old Merv.

This was the worse case of PTSD I have ever seen from either Merv, Liam or Barnaby...

Pat was deeply upset and he can't handle it, even when Merv just sits on the floor, rocking back and forth. But this 'attack' was off the scale...

The lads helped Pat clear up the mess and broken pieces that Merv caused in their flat....

(Regular readers will know that the 'overtime book' mysteriously disappeared and only just recently Billy admitted taking it and hiding it in his reception safe!!)

11am....

Harry was struggling to push the tea trolley with Liam.....

I told him he doesn't have a choice now...his going to the hospital for a bloody x-ray and thats the end of it!!

I expected him to explode but all I got was one of his death stares. No argument, no words, just the 'stare'

I told him to get changed and I'll meet him in reception in 10 minutes.

We drove to the A&E in silence.

A triage nurse saw Harry within 15 minutes of arriving (well done NHS!)

She directed him straight to x-ray.

After a 30 minute wait he was x-rayed and we went back to the waiting room

An hour later the doctor called him in......

The black bruising made it look a lot worse than what is was and he was lucky he only had a small crack in his 6th rib.

The doctor recommended that he takes paracetamol or ibuprofen regularly to keep pain under control. Apply an ice pack or bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel for 10–15 minutes several times a day during the first few days to reduce swelling. Take 10 slow, deep breaths every hour to keep your lungs clear and prevent pneumonia.Take time off work if needed, and strictly avoid heavy lifting and strenuous exercise.

We went back to the hospitals main reception and enquired about Merv.

The receptionist asked us if we were family etc.

Harry told them that Merv has no family and that he was the 'Director of welfare' at the hotel that Merv works for...

She asked for our names......

When I told her mine, she smiled and said "oh yes..Jason, thats fine, he's in ward 7. Let me phone the ward to see if he can have visitors?"

Luckily we were allowed to see him.

We got their and found the ward door locked with just an intercom...

We buzzed the intercom and said who we were....

We were greeted at the door and let in.

It suddenly dawned on me that this was the 'mental heath ward'.....

The male orderly, who I must say was a man mountain and built like a brick shit house took us to Mervs room....

He was sitting up in bed watching the tv.

The orderly told us he was fine but a bit drowsy as he was now coming down from the medication they gave him.

He smiled when he saw us and we both hugged him.....

Merv had no recollection of what happened....

We received a 'disturbing' Dm from a reader who we don't think has ever commented on this story before? Questioning why I referred to Merv, Barnaby and me as 'veterans'...he went on to say that we are just 'too young' to be a veteran and its an insult to those that served in the World Wars and even the Falklands.

That really upset me and the others and I sure all of the other "veterans" that has served 'Queen and country" and now of course 'King and country'

Just too clarify the position.....

"The UK Government defines a veteran as anyone who has served for at least one day in the UK Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve). This also includes Merchant Mariners who have seen duty on legally defined military operations."

I hope this clears up your misunderstanding of what a Armed Forces Veteran is?

As of today, I'm fine thank you!

That part was written 14 months and 15 days ago and, touch wood, I've only had 4 episodes since, all very small and all it took was either the lovely Harry or Liam to throw me in the shower and sit with me talking.

I have apologised for hurting Harry and he hasn't let me forget it!

BUT..

Harry has arranged for me, Liam, and Barnaby to receive on a monthly basis, Trauma-Focused Psychological Therapy.

In our case its a therapy called 'Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)' which helps to process memories and change unhelpful thought patterns.

We had had 10 sessions each and it has certainly helped all 3 of us....

Harry says this private treatment is paid for out of his 'welfare' budget but I'm sorry Harry, we're not stupid mate.....your yearly budget is only £5,000 and our treatments have cost over £9,000 in 10 months.

We knew its Jason that paid for it out of his pocket although he has never admitted this and won't discuss it with us!!!

I LOVE MERV SO MUCH.

I hate it when Merv has a PTSD episode, I can't handle it well. In fact I can't handle it at all.

Anyway......

11.00am.....

Jason informs me that Merv has been given the all clear to be discharged from the hospital and he is going to pick him up.

I asked to go with him.....

Jason pressed the buzzer to the ward and spoke through the intercom saying who he was and who he was seeing...

I had a panic attack!!!

It dawned on me what 'ward 7' was and why the door was locked!!

Jason must have read my mind as he gave me a hug and told me.....

"Don't worry mate, the door is only locked to keep people OUT and not IN."

The same man mountain and brick shit house orderly opened the door..

I gulped.....

Jesus christ he was bloody huge!!

Me and Joe were going through the hotel and all the other businesses accounts....

Dreaded VAT returns and end of year accounts due...

Joe and Ryan are "whizz kids" when it comes to this, so I just leave them to it!!

Harry, Liam and Morgan's cakes and cupcakes has the largest increase of turnover since Alfie suggested expanding the coffee shop to accommodate a special cake section.

The hotels turnover, money wise, has increased by 73% on last years figures. This mainly due to the afternoon teas, the sunday carvery and the function room events and weddings.....

What was disappointing that we are a 4 star hotel, but our occupancy rates are down on last year?

But we have made a damn sight more money......

I need to reward the lads, but how the hell do I do that? They refuse overtime payments, so if they have a weekend off or a couple of midweek days off I treat them to theme park trips, Disney land Paris etc etc.

Plus of course a lot of parties with a free bar!!

I then came up with what I thought was a great idea....

It caused World War bloody 3....!!

And I mean war!!!

Jesus bloody christ!! Every lad and I mean every lad, was banging on my door giving me 'blue murder' !!

I got death stares from Harry !, Barnaby threatened to shoot me !, Liam threatened to poison my cake and refuse to serve me from the tea trolley !. Merv and Pat threatened to stop feeding me !.... John and Henry threatened to superglue my flat door up!! Billy and Aj threatened they wouldn't talk to me anymore !

For fuck sakes !!

I thought my idea was great!!

I wanted to give the live in lads 6 months free rent on their flats/rooms and the live out lads £2,000 each.....

I took out my personalised headed notepaper from my drawer and decided to write LEO a short letter of thanks.

I mentioned the first time I met him and how shy he was and how I 'sorted out' Tony for him for bullying him. And how I threw all of Tony's clothes out of the window and made him streak outside to get them! And how much he has developed since working here into a great General Manager full of confidence. And of course how much I love him....

I felt very emotional writing it to be honest.

I put it in an envelope and left it on his desk.....

10 minutes later he came in, saw the envelope and sat down to open it.

I left the office!!!

I came back about an hour later and found Leo still sitting at his desk.

He saw me...

He stood up staring at me...
