After evening meal, I saw Kyle head towards the lift and not follow the others to the bar....

LEO......here now..

This part is very emotional, upsetting and was a life threatening incident.

Most of the lads were crying, comforting each other and really upset....

LEO...still here...

Sorry about that earlier, but this is very hard to write about.....

I called an urgent staff meeting in the bar and found the lads very upset and comforting each other...

Kyle and Morgan was very upset...

Obviously Dylan went with Jason in the ambulance, when I noticed that Harry and Liam where missing?

Simon told me that he saw them follow Jason and Dylan to the ambulance and then a couple of minutes later saw Liam's car drive out...

Arlo and Aiden were silently praying and hugging each other.

The mood was very downcast.

Roger and Jack was handing out glasses of brandy to help with the panic that was spreading across the lads.

I told the lads that it would be best if they all retired to their flats tonight and any lad that doesn't live in are welcome to stay the night...I would find them a bed.

Nobody moved!!

It was Alex that said.....

"I'm not moving until I know how Jason is, I'm sorry Leo but I'm staying here"

The others agreed and said their not retiring or sleeping until they also know....

Merv was sitting in the corner being consoled by Pat.

I was now a bit worried as Merv was rocking back and forth like he does when he's having a PTSD attack...

Shit....no Liam or Harry to help me deal with it....

An hour later Liam phoned saying Jason had an angina attack and he needs a "Coronary angioplasty" which is a procedure used to widen blocked or narrowed coronary arteries. He is also having a 'stent' fitted as well.

It is performed using local anaesthetic, where a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into one of arteries through an incision in your groin, wrist or arm. This is guided to the affected coronary artery using an X-ray video.

When the catheter is in place, a thin wire is guided down the length of the affected coronary artery, delivering a small balloon to the affected section of artery. This is then inflated to widen the artery, squashing fatty deposits against the artery wall so blood can flow through it more freely when the deflated balloon is removed.

If a stent is being used, this will be around the balloon before it's inserted. The stent will expand when the balloon is inflated and remains in place when the balloon is deflated and removed.

As Liam was talking Jason was being taken to the operating theatre.

Harry has taken this badly and a doctor has decided to sedate him!

So now Harry is being treated as well as Jason.....

It never rains but it pours?

I went back to the bar and found all of the lads kneeling in a circle, holding hands with Aiden saying...

"Lord, You know Jason and we all love him, like you do. Please bring calm to his hospital room, ease his pain, and grant him relief. Guide the hands, minds, and wisdom of the doctors, nurses, and medical staff caring for him. Surround Jason with Your peace that passes all understanding, cast out every fear, and walk with him toward a full and steady recovery. In Jesus' name, Amen."

I joined in, kneeling with them....

"Heavenly Father, I lift up my dear friend Jason, who is in the hospital right now, asking for Your loving care, strength, and healing touch upon their body. In Jesus's name, Amen"

I then put my head in my hands and sobbed..

LEO....writing...

As soon as the lads knew Jason's condition they felt better.

They started to slowly go to their flats and thank god Merv managed to contain his episode of PTSD and when he knew Jason was ok he seemed to just 'snap back' out of it...

It then dawned on me that Kyle will be by himself in Jason's flat and I do know why Jason didn't want Kyle left by himself....

I suggested that he can sleep in my flat on our pull out sofa bed...

He thanked me but said Zak, Aaron, Nathan and Rhys said he could sleep in the spare room in the staff quarters and they would look after him....

Thanks lads.

2am.....

I couldn't sleep, I was worried about Jason and worried about the others especially Harry!

I went to reception to see Simon and have a coffee with him....

I noticed on the Cctv monitor that the cake bar shop had lights on?

Simon told me it's Morgan.

I went to see him....I could smell the baking as I was walking up the path to the shops....

I asked him whats he doing?

He told me that Harry and Liam are still at the hospital and therefore no cakes for the shop or coffee shop. So he decided he had better start earlier than normal to give him a good 3 hours start....

I gave him a hug and then Alfie appeared saying "I'll give you a hand Morgan...Just tell me wot to do and wot needs doing and I'll try my best"

You just have to love these lads...

3.00am....

Liam arrives back with Harry.....

He said they would have been back earlier but Harry kind of 'broke down' and wouldn't let go of Jason's hand and a doctor gave him some sleeping pills..

He then took Harry to his flat and Luke put him to bed...

Liam then came back down and said he would help Morgan...

I still wasn't tired so I stayed with Simon...

05.00am....

Merv and Pat came down saying they are on breakfast duties. Both looked so tired and they admitted they hadn't had much sleep at all.....

06.15am

Breakfast called...

Jesus wept...their was so many tired lads and you only had to look at them to see how tired they really were.

07.00am....

Aj comes into the dining room with a huge smile on his face....

"Jason's ok!! His awake, sitting up and talking and joking with Dylan and moaning about him being there!"

You could see the instant relief on the lads faces...and they smiled and started hugging each other...

Kyle and Alfie started crying saying they were happy tears...

I then saw Arlo and Aiden do the 'sign of the cross' where they touch their forehead, then chest, then left shoulder, then right shoulder. Both them looked up and said "thank you Lord"

JASON...still here and alive!!

First of all many thanks for the Dm's wishing me well... as you know this story is just over 12 months in the past and I'm fine now ta!!

I don't remember much about the incident to be honest...

I remember needing to go for a pee and then I had a severe pain in my chest....thats all I remember until I woke up in hospital connected to god knows how many machines.

I remember waking to Dylan holding my hand telling me to "fight Jason" and a sobbing Harry holding my other hand.

A doctor was telling Harry and Liam that its best that they go home but Harry wasn't having any of it and refused to go.

Apparently Liam asked the doctor for a couple of sleeping tablets and Liam managed to get Harry to take them....crafty Liam!!

Anyway I had my stent fitted and the next day at 5pm I was discharged from hospital.

I actually felt good, it fact better than I had been for the last couple of months.

Tony came and picked us up and we arrived back at the hotel at 6.10pm

I walked into reception for Billy and Aj to give me a hug and then I walked into the dining room....

The lads saw me and rushed to give me a hug!!! Steady lads!

Harry saw me and broke down into tears, being comforted by Luke. He started a chain reaction as then Kyle, Alfie and Morgan broke down into tears as well...

Get a bloody grip lads!! (Love you)

It was so nice to see them all and be home.

When I was recovering in hospital I made a major decision about myself and the hotel...Dylan agreed with me and supported me saying "your health comes first and I want to spend a lot more years with you before you finally peg it"

Thank a lot Dylan!!....bit of Harry-itus there I think?

DYLAN I LOVE YOU TO THE MOON AND BACK AND WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF MY DAYS WITH YOU. YOU ARE MY LIFE.

Now I had to tell the Directors and the senior staff of my decision

I had made my decision and after breakfast I called Leo into the office.....

I told him of my intentions to stand down from my present position at the hotel.....

I will now be "chairman of the board" and become a 'consultant' if and when needed....

I offered the position of 'Chief Executive Officer' to Leo telling him that the day to day management and strategic operations will solely be his responsibility with me as a consultant if needed.

Leo's eyes got wet and he hugged me telling me that he doesn't think he's ready for taking on the full responsibility of the hotel....as I've always been here for him....

I smiled....

"Leo, you are more than capable and we both know that it's always been you that has pushed the hotel forward to the success it is today. I trust you 100%"

Leo looked down to the floor and said he will only accept the position on one condition....

"That we have weekly meetings on a Monday morning to discuss the hotel and every major project is approved by you first. And I want to be able to discuss whatever I need with you at any time."

Leo made it very clear that unless I agreed with his condition he would not be taking the position.....

I agreed with Leo's condition so he accepted the position.. we spoke about other things and he agreed with me..

Thank you Leo!

Phase 2 of my decision....

I phoned the Business Centre and asked Aiden to come back and see me ASAP...

Dylan came into reception and I smiled and nodded.....

He immediately hugged Leo and thanked him!!

Billy and Aj looked confused!!

Leo then asked Billy if he could have a word in the office....phase 3.

The 3 of us went into mine, sorry, as from 6.00am tomorrow, Leo's office....

Billy, poor lad, looked a bit terrified .......

Leo explained my decision and his promotion....

He then asked Billy if he would like the position of the Hotels 'General Manager'?

After a lengthy conversation about the job and terms and conditions Billy accepted the position...

Thank you Billy....

He was told not to say anything to anybody until I announce it at breakfast tomorrow...

Just as we finished, Aiden knocked on the office door....

Leo answered it and invited him in and Leo and Billy then left....

Aiden looked shocked and asked if he's in trouble?

I gave him a hug and told him to sit down....

I explained my decision to step down as I wanted to be able to chill out and relax with you lot and spend more time with my Dylan..

Aiden agreed and asked if he can help in any way, he would...

Funny you should say then Aiden!!!

I didn't beat about the bush....

"Aiden, I would like you to consider a new position being the "Group Director" of my personal companies. I want you to oversee the Business centre, the storage unit, the car sales and rentals, the coffee shop, the Drone business, and the laser clay shoot"

Aiden looked shocked....

We dicussed the job details and the new salary and the terms and conditions..

He agreed!!!

But he had a couple of conditions...

Bloody hell!!

Promote Dean to General Manager of the Business centre and employ another person to help Dean on the management side of it....

I smiled and asked him if that's his first executive decision?

He smiled with 'wet' eyes and simply said "yes I accept the position and yes to it being my first executive decision"

He smiled....

"And my second condition is that you and me hold weekly meeting to discuss any concerns and that if I need help at anytime you will help"

I agreed...

The cheeky sod then told me.....

"My 2nd condition and my 2nd Executive decision is, I hereby appoint you as a 'consultant' for the group..

I agreed

We hugged...... and I told him not a word to anybody until I make the announcement at breakfast tomorrow with the other decisions I have made......

We hugged more and Aiden went back to the Business centre...

And you know what??

I felt good!

I put my hands behind my head, my feet up on the desk and smiled...

I was genuinely happy....

Next morning..breakfast.

I walked into the dining room and found every single member of staff of the hotel and my associate companies sitting their

So many we needed 2 tables!!

Tony stood up and called the tables to order...

"Lads, attention please,...We now need to listen to an important message from Jason which is why you have all been called in for breakfast."

I stood up and already my eyes were, as Harry would say, 'wet'...

I looked around the tables and saw every one of them staring back at me.

I cleared my throat...

"Lads...I have come to a few decisions that will affect the operations here at the hotel and my private companies. I want to spend more quality time with my lovely Dylan and spend more chilling and relaxing time with you lot that I love dearly, every one of you. As of 06.00am this morning I have resigned from my day to day positions here and of my companies, but will remain as Chairman of the Board. I will also act as a, if and when needed, Consultant. So it gives me great pleasure to inform you that Leo is now Managing Director and Billy is now the General Manager of the hotel. With regards to my personal companies I have appointed Aiden as the Group Director and he will now be the person responsible for them"

The clapping and cheering went up with shouts of well done and congratulations...

I continued...."I will still be here and your all welcome to visit me in my flat whenever you need to speak with me. I was going to say that their will be a free bar tonight, but unfortunately that is not in my power now!! So Tony can you please give the lads drinks tonight and then give me the bill and I will pay it?"

I felt the tears rolling down my cheeks and then I saw Dylan come over and hug me....

I felt no shame in bursting into tears on Dylans shoulder....

The room went deadly quiet......

I saw Harry, Liam and Merv wipe the tears from their faces....

And as I looked around the room I saw many tears flowing....

I was adamant I have made the right decisions... but had I???

After breakfast and the lads went off to do their duties, most of them tapped me on the shoulder or back..

I was a bit emotional and decided to go to my now ex office and clear out my desk....

I retired to my flat and relaxed.

I must have fallen asleep as I felt my shoulder being shaken and a voice telling me to wake up...

It was Harry and Liam with there bloody tea trolley!!

Liam went into my kitchen and made me a cappuccino and Harry told me what selection of saandwiches and cakes they have....

Jesus lads I'm in my own flat and capable of making my own drink and sandwich!!

Liam came back with a cappuccino and Harry nodded at him...

Liam left with the tea trolley and Harry sat down next to me....

His eyes got 'wet' as he asked me if I will still let him come round for a head massage when Luke is working lates?

My eyes started watering as I replied....

"Oh Harry, of course you can! Nothing has changed that will prevent you from coming round! I will be very upset if you don't!

We hugged.....

Later on in the afternoon I received a phone call from Liam and Mervs psychotherapist asking me why they have cancelled further sessions with her? I didn't know they had and this was the first time I knew about it!...

I wasn't happy as these sessions were definitely helping them, especially Merv....

I went down to reception and asked Billy, the hotels new now General Manager, and asked him if it would be possible for me to speak to Liam and Merv, if he didn't mind?

He phoned the kitchen and spoke to Dylan asking that Merv attend reception and then phoned the cake bar and asked for Liam to attend reception.

Merv arrived about 30 seconds before Liam...

I sat them down on the reception sofas and asked them why they cancelled their sessions with the shrink?

They looked at each other, before Merv told me that they didn't think it was right for me to pay for their treatment anymore....

I couldn't believe he said that...

I calmly told them, in a quiet tone of voice.....

"Because I'm not working here anymore doesn't mean I love you less than I did. I love the pair of you so much and I want you to stop having these PTSD attacks. I would very much love you to continue your treatment please"

Liam then told me something that broke my heart....

"Its not fair on you Jason to pay for our treatment as its costly and you don't have a job anymore, so no wages coming in, so you will be paying out of your own savings which really you should be spending on Dylan"

They didn't know that I haven't taken a wage, as such, for the last 10 years from the hotel!!

I was now doubting whether I really had made the right decision ? So far thats Harry, Liam and Merv that think I have given up on them?

It is strange how people react to change. Dylan will be cheering but the others are still to find their feet in the 'new' order. Adjustment takes time for everyone and expectations change. I can understand the reations of Liam and Merv. Your reassurance will go a long way to help

Congratulations Jason on making the big decision to retire and hand the reigns to the lads. It will take time for all to adjust. Some of the lads will make decisions thinking their doing the right thing but it feels that they're distancing themselves from you and that's not their intentions. Communication is the key. The lads will be fine and more importantly you and Dylan can enjoy more time together

I spent the rest of the afternoon at the Business Centre with Aiden and Joe handing over the bank stuff and details of the other companies that he will now look after..

We also asked Dean to be the new General Manager of the Business Centre!

He was thrilled and chuffed to bits, and of course accepted the position.

We decided that Aiden should have his own office and he is now going to use a spare office at the Business Centre as its fully furnished and he obviously has access to the conference room, photocopying and of course telephone answering service...

It was now late afternoon so I headed back to the hotel...

Evening meal called....i was told by telephone as I don't have a 2 way radio now!! Even though I moaned like hell about it, I'm missing it already!!

I went into the dining room as Leo was as well and I offered him my 'chair' at the head of the table...

Leo smiled and sat down on it....

All of a sudden We all heard Tony bellow "NO!" and he slammed both his palms on the table knocking over a couple of glasses and making the table vibrate!!!

It frightened both me and Leo and so much that Leo jumped up from the chair

Their must have been 30- 40 lads and each one immediately shut up and looked at Tony!

"No, that is Jason's chair and always will be! He has sat their since day 1 and in doing so we have felt like part of his family. Him being their has always offered us security and affection"

Leo immediately offered the chair back to me...

I sat down in it and felt the tears coming which I had no control over. Oh god I'm going to start bawling my eyes out.....

Well....that told us, big time!

After the meal, I was sitting at the table still, waiting for my lovely Dylan when Alex came out of the kitchen with a cup of cappuccino for me...

"Jason, Tony's right. That's your chair. You and that chair, gives us hope, comfort, security and of us being not only part of the hotel but also being part of your family"

He then went back to the kitchen..

Oh god!!

Dylan came out and told me he heard what Alex said and agreed with him.

We went upstairs to our flat, and as we went in we found Kyle dressed in only a towel round his waist, dancing around the living room listening to 'Die With a Smile' by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.

I felt so relaxed and chilled.. I was enjoying myself until I went to have a game of table tennis when the bat was snatched out of my hand by Liam shouting at me...."no way mate, no physical excerise for you for at least 4-5 weeks. Thats what the consultant said!"

Ok Liam..keep your bloody hair on!

I decided to go to the bar and asked for a pint of strongbow....

I turned round and looked at the lads enjoying themselves. They were laughing and joking and chatting.

It was so nice to see...

Connor, the cheeky sod asked me who I was? He said he didn't recognise me in casual wear! Fucker!!

I joined Dylan who was sitting on Harry's table, this time they were playing 'cluedo'....

I hope their promotions haven't changed them or their natural personality?

Kyle was playing pool with Connor and they were talking about Connors Prince Albert and how they 'inserted' the Prince Albert in his japs eye!!

It must have worked as Kyle lost the game and the poor old lad had to walk to the bar naked and get Connor a pint!

AIDEN......writing a bit!!

Wow!!!

I'm the 'Group Director' of Jason's companies!!

Under my wing is the Business Centre, the self storage, the car and rental site, the wedding cars, the coffee shop, the Drone business, the laser clay shooting and the Photo studio!

I have my own office and that at the Business Centre....

Thank you Jason for having faith in me!

I spend a lot of time visiting the companies and especially with Arlo getting marketing strategies done.

My first week was hectic!!

The lads are fully behind me and appreciate my role in the company.

Every Tuesday morning I get the 'managers' together in the board room and we discuss how the business's are performing. Even Barnaby and Chase from the shooting and the Drones who technically 'own' their companies with Jason appreciate my work role and treat me like they treat Jason..

And on a Monday morning I meet Jason for a chat as well.

I set a weekly turnover challenge for each company and if they don't produce the required success then they become the naked waiter for the Tuesday meetings!! Yes they have to remain stark bollock naked for the meeting serving us hot drinks and the buffet food I lay on for them!!

Believe it or not, the nakedness wasn't my idea!! I know thats hard to believe but its 100% true!!

Me and my big mouth!!

Yes, this 'new' tradition for Jason's company's lads was down to me!!

Aiden set a target for me and I honestly thought I could achieve it and stupidly said if I didn't then I would be a naked waiter at the next meeting....

I was £115 short and as I'm a man of my word at the next meeting I stripped bollock naked and served the other their hot drinks and food from the buffet...

And it just escalated from there!!

The good part is, if all of the companies hit their targets for the week, Aiden has to serve us naked!! That was funny and a sight to be seen to be honest!

So far we have all had to do this new tradition including Aiden...

Once when every company failed to hit the target given in the same week we all had to strip and serve each other...

But too give Aiden his dues he also stripped saying obviously it was his fault for setting the targets too high!

I'm not just saying this, as its true, but Aiden is a fantastic communicator with us and never 'bosses' us about...we work together and he listens to us as we do him.

His always getting Arlo to do more marketing for us, and stands up for us when Leo and Billy says we are taking up too much of Arlo's time as technically his employed by the hotel.....Aiden fights back saying that he "pays" to use Arlo as the hotel invoices us each month!!

I miss Jason though....I know he visits us when he can but most of our work is off-site.....so we only see him in the evenings so we don't talk 'shop' as such.

Anyway...

Its been a month now since I stepped down and I'm loving it!!!

I'm now more chilled and stress free and actually enjoying it...

My lovely Dylan doesn't work long hours now either...he says he only did as I did?

Our making love to each other has increased and Harry says we are "like bloody rabbits"

Leo is doing a marvellous job with the hotel and has come up with a few more ideas. Billy is great at looking after the staff and customers and AJ has redeveloped the reception process and moved the furniture about... I must confess he has reception looking really good and the new checking in process has definitely made checking in much easier. Well done lads...

And Aiden....the lovely Aiden...

He has shocked me...he is running my companies absolutely magnificently. All of their turnovers have increased, their overheads have decreased and the lads really respect him.

First thing Monday mornings I have a meeting with Leo to discuss the hotel in general like the staffing, the budgets, the forecasts and the most important...the profit!!

And then after meeting Leo, I meet with Aiden at the Business Centre amd discuss my businesses etc and after that I go to the coffee shop for a cappuccino and a cupcake!

And then on one of the other days, I visit all of my businesses just for a chat and a coffee with the staff.

And every other week I go off-site with either Chase or Oscar and help them with the Drones...

And I love that....I can have a good 1-1 chat with them, see how they operate and help them if needed.

And I passed my theory test and registered with the Civil Aviation Authority and I have also got my 'Certificate of Competence' so I can fly the drones closer to uninvolved people.

Life is great and I'm so happy and content now. True contentment comes from accepting the present moment, appreciating everyday routines, and finding peace inside rather than chasing constant external goals.

Sorry have to stop writing now as Dylan has that look in his eyes that's telling me he wants my body!!!

And I certainly want his..
