This is a true story

Back in 1987 i was living down south, in a lovely place, just outside Bournemouth. I was 27yrs old single, and Gay, renting a small bedsit.

i used a lovely, cosy pub as my local. It was one of those places where you got to know everyone who used it. There was a couple of older chaps who used it too, 60+, at first i thought they were brothers, because they always arrived together, sat together, and left together, Frank and Don, i began chatting to them, i found them really warm and friendly, and easy to chat to, they always sat at the same table.

One day Frank was getting served at the bar, it was always the same, Two pints of bitter, in the old dimpled pots, he let onto me and asked how i was, i smiled and just replied. " yes, im very well, hows yourself and Don? "

" Were both fine! Why dont you come and join us?"

" ok i will, i said, picking up my pint and following him to their table. Don smiled at me and said " so you have decided to join us, pull up a chair young man"

That dinner time we had a really nice chat, and got to know each other a bit more in depth.

After that day, i always joined them at their table, and we opened up more and more in our conversations.

Don always seemed to be the one leading the topics, one day he looked at me, and said " I hope you are not offended, by this, but me and Frank were chatting about you, "

" you are a nice young man, good looking, friendly, we have never seen you with a nice young lady, and you have never mentioned a girlfriend, in our conversations, why is that ?"

Part 2

I was caught a little off guard by this, but decided to open up, and tell the truth, I have never come out to anyone before, but I trusted these two. That dinner I totally opened up as we shared a few pints, I told them everything, how I first discovered I was Gay, and experiences I had had etc.

Don then asked me,

“ Are you in tomorrow? We may have a proposition for you “

And so, the day of the move finally arrived, I had already made arrangements for my gear to be taken round. So I ordered a taxi, and set off, it was only a 10min journey.
