When I send or receive private messages from other users, please can you not show the contents of the private message in the notification emails.

This also discourages users from logging into the site and actually using it.

Or just turn the notifications off, we've never used them and still managed to keep on top of our messages.

Same here, keeps things simple.

I like to be notified. That's the whole point of being emailed.

It isn't right to have private message contents showing in the emails. The emails should just be notifications to actually log into the fab sites.

To be fair, I’m with you on this one, even a long msg can be read in its entirety without having to log onto the site. This means the msg shows as unread, to the sender when they log in, even though its been seen by the recipient.

"This means the msg shows as unread, to the sender when they log in, even though its been seen by the recipient."

This could be considered a feature and not a bug for messages from some people.

However, after the OP's point that users should have to use the site to read messages, it makes sense to me that emails "should" contain nothing more than a simple notification, and not share private and sensitive information with outside platforms.

It seems a strange 'improvement' to make. I agree with OP.

Totally agree with the OP.

The email is a push notification, as there is no app for this.

All I need is a notification that there is a message. I don't need the entire message relayed outside of the website.

I see it as a bug, not a feature

There is such a thing as a phone lock on your phone. If you are worried somebody else might see your private messages and realise you are cheating or are gay then suggest you should nit be on fabguys. Be true to yourself and your loved ones.

Every time people "change" something it always makes things "worse". I don't like change. I like everything kept the same in life.

I tend to think the same. Mind this site could do with a lot of improvements

This site just works though. If they "improved" it, this will introduce new problems and annoyances.

I applies to EVERYTHING in life: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just slightly modernise the appearance if necessary, without breaking what already works.
