No. It prevents your messages and interaction with websites from being intercepted and modified

A VPN either doesn't log the browsing data, who connects to it and what sites that connection is to, or only stores the information for a very limited length of time.

When choosing a VPN provider always read the terms & conditions which will tell you what the policy is, many U.S providers have get (them) out of jail opt outs for when the over reaching U.S government comes knocking with court orders.

Last time i saw nord van was around 12 quid a month there are discounts for longer commitments. It's dead easy to use on a PC I've never used on mobile

"What's vpn"

It's short for Virtual Privste Network.

Basically they are apps that you install on your computer or phone and when you open them it gives you a choice of different Internet servers in UK and around the world that you can select to access the Internet from.

Some Internet sites are "geo specific" ie you can only access BBC Iplayer if you are in UK. But say you live in USA or Australia you can connect to a UK server via a VPN and when you navigate to BBC player it fools the app into thinking you are in UK and you can access it.

There are also other features such that it hides your actual IP address.

I'm currently using a VPN to watch cycle races via SBS channel in Australia for free because it now costs £31 a month to watch in UK via Discovery+ . In 2023 it was £39.99 a year! I'm paying just over that for a VPN.

You can get free to use ones but I had problems with those so decided to pay.

Sometimes - not always - when using Nord vpn in UK Fabguys asks me for extra verification, as it does when I'm abroad, but otherwise no issues.
