Some FAQs from another thread:

These all follow OFCOM guidelines which they have published on "highly effective" age assurance. For example, mobile phone network operator check for 18+ (if your phone is unlocked for adult content) and AI age estimation are two of the methods they say are capable of being "highly effective" if used correctly.

We are in the final stages of our testing. All our methods are quick, easy and designed for privacy, following guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office on data privacy related to age assurance.

We store no data other than a PASS if we can confirm you as 18+. We don't store (or in most methods need) your DOB as part of this process and we don't store any data as part of the process. It is emphatically NOT an ID check. For anyone interested in the details of the legislation, OFCOM has published around 400 pages of guidance related to this which you can google and read through.

PS. MOST folks who are active users on the site will already have taken an action which means their account will be flagged as age assured at the point this goes live.

If you have recently upgraded from an adult unlocked phone OR by credit card (not debit card or pp), yes.

We'll be applying these on July 24th but we'd love everyone to give the age assurance methods a go anyway and give us feedback.

Turned off WiFi clicked the verify button and instantly verified.

It is a good idea as once after messaging someone for several days I had a message from his supposed dad saying the guy I was messaging was 15 and they were going goto the police and would tell my family unless I paid them not too

Obviously it was a scam and I didn’t fall for it. Told them to go ahead as the site was for over 18s and they should not have allowed their under age son on the site. Nothing was heard back and the account was deleted. But I wonder how many guys did actually pay up?

At least now with age verification we are sure the member is over 18 and these scammers will not be able to make the scam work.

Really easy process. Would be good if somewhere in the profile, there is a flag or something indicating that a person is 18+. This is good for safety and may prevent us having to see ID from people we meet to verify their age. Is the process foolproof? Or is it still recommended to see ID if we want to confirm DOB?

It will be, from July 24th, when the legislation comes into force. Users who are not Age Assured will not be able to make use of our services or view content.
