If after you have verified someone as genuine, can I then, after finding out I was mistaken withdraw it. ?

I don't think you can, if he leaves the site your verification will go with him.

He was either genuine or not - how could you have made a mistake?

Let's hope you didn't verify him without actually meeting him first as people do that

Can you explain further what the issue was? Do you mean you met this person, sent a verification, but subsequently have fallen out with them or found something out about them which has changed your opinion of them? Or do you mean you sent a verification for someone you didn’t actually meet, thinking they were likely to be genuine, but now feel mistaken in that belief?

I met this person twice. The first time he seemed a nice person so I verified him as such. The second time he left with something that didn't belong to him knowing full well I could do nothing about it.

If you block him, any verification between the two of you will disappear from both profiles.

A verification is purely to show that someone is real, not how honest they are.

Yeah block him, verifications will then no longer be displayed.. I have done the same when someone turned out be a tosser after doing all sorts for them.

How unpleasant and I’m sorry to hear you were taken advantage of.

The verification you left after the first meeting was left by you in good faith and was fair in that he was a real person who met up with you as described.

I genuinely don’t know if what other people say above is correct - that by blocking him no-one else would be able to see the verification you left for him. You might want to seek assurance on that from FabGuys.

By saying you could do nothing about the fact he has taken from you - are you saying this was not reported to the police or you don’t feel you could divulge the circumstances to the police? This type of person will continue to steal…

I am curious that the wording the OP used is very specific and didn’t use the word steal.

I learnt when trying to reply to the OP above several times and having to keep editing, that the word “st0len” is not allowed and is blocked (though “steal” is fine) and the word “r0bbed” is not allowed and is blocked (though “rob” is fine). So the initial choice of vocabulary could be determined by that.

FabGuys’ list of banned vocabulary - be it AI algorithm or moderation choice - is one of the most perverse and illogical facets of the site and is unknowable until you’re alerted in red. How does it make any sense allowing steal but not st0len…

Surely they were genuine if you verified them genuine.

Unfortunately we don’t know all the circumstances, and all we can do is surmise.

Considering the OP’s age, it may be that it is a case of a mixture of embarrassment and being scared of the police - remember for older gay or bi people the police knowing about your sexuality was not something you wanted them to know, or it could be that their children or friends don’t know about their sexuality and reporting the taken item would to the police would mean having to tell them, or it could even be something to do with the item in question. Stigma can be a very hard thing for some people to get over if they have had to hide their true self.

For myself I just hope that the OP can get over what has happened to them - whatever they decide to do going forward.

The OP could leave the site, when his membership needs renewing, and then rejoin. His verification would go from the bad guys profile.

If you block the profile the verification you left won't be displayed on his profile and if he left you a verification it will disappear from your profile too. Do not name and shame as suggested as Admin take a dim view as naming and shaming isn't allowed xx
