I've always thought vers meant you were both top AND bttm. But with some messages I get it seems that's not the case. So can someone tell me the actual meaning for versatile?

You are correct, Versatile is someone who is comfortable being top or bottom. If that has changed nobody told me!

Still a lot of bottom shaming in our community and I feel many fellas say they're versa so as not to say they are bottom.

You can have 100 fellas with just 2 tops, 85 are 100% bottom, and those remaining say they only bottom on any day ending in "day".

Correct interpretation, problem is you see profiles listed as “Versatile” then the profile text says something like bottom or mainly bottom making the search filters unreliable or useless.

Perhaps a wider range of values might help such as:

Top

Top/Versatile

Versatile

Bottom/Versatile

Bottom

Same could be done for oral:

Oral give

Oral both ways

Oral Receive

But as always everything relies on the accuracy/truthfulness people fill in their profiles with.

However, a lot of bottom say they are with no interest in being top.

But no so happy when Versatile then turns out to be Bottom if you are looking to be topped. It can work both ways.

A long time ago people used to describe themselves as Vers/top or Vers/bottom to show what end of the spectrum they were on. My problem is I'm either top or bottom depending on chemistry and I sometimes don't know that till I meet someone. I'm pretty sure a lot of guys are like this.

For me it means I can be greedy and have a bit of everything.

If I'm with a strict top or bottom I'll play the other role. But my ideal is someone like me who enjoys both.
