Just a thought here, and I’m sure others may agree…

When we click on the “who’s online nearby”, is it really necessary to keep people in that list who were online up to an hour ago?

It’s just frustrating to see a list of people who were online “55 minutes ago” when it would be so much more helpful if those guys weren’t shown after say 15 minutes…

Just a thought.

This isn’t a dig in any way. I love this site and have made some great friends from it (shame about the timewasters but there’s not a lot we can do about those guys).

What do you guys think?

I am neutral on this aesthetic sites is a passive reactive one not a "now" site as if it were then users who had were online but not active would be automatically logged out after a period of inactivity.

The feature is called 'See who's near' and the listing is based on the most recent gps info that the site has for the users.

It's primary function is location. The online status is a secondary function of the list.

Yes, it's a wee bit annoying that there's a delay between parts of the site updating.

The current online status of every user could be 100% up to date at all times, but this would consume so much processing time in the servers that the rest of the site basically would cease to function.

The worst part for me is you check see who's near, find someone who is online, send a message then find out they were last online 20 minutes ago. It could update times rather quicker.
