People creating profiles and Blocking after making arrangements to meet

I have to add this important issue to this forum:

I have been on FabGuys for a few weeks now and noticed that guys are adding profiles of themselves on here and after initial interactions with them and arranged meets with them they are then **BLOCKING** the profile with any important information such as address or names of people.

This is getting really annoying and frustrating now and needs to be addressed by the Admin team please

Well it shouldn’t be happening.

It’s disgusting and it spoils the whole situation and makes people feel like shit

I don’t understand this bit… what are you talking about?

My suggestion would be not to give them maps of where you live or your real name before you’ve checked them out a bit better, sir.

What mechanisms did you employ to be assured they were not just fantasist time-wasters who were never going to meet? Did you check their verifications and research whether they had met with guys before and recently? Had you seen face pictures that you felt confident were the users in question? Did you speak to these people on the telephone?

Yeah, give them a rough address, next street or somwthing, then if you see they are 2 mins walk or something when you look who's near, then give an address.

What you are doing is a big mistake.

Spend longer chatting before you arrange anything.

May I suggest you have a look at the “safer meetings” link at the bottom of the home page.

There is a list of Do’s and Don’ts

Number 1 on the Don’t list “* Don't give strangers your personal details (e.g. address, place of work, phone number)”

Number 1 on the do list “DO: Always meet somewhere safe and public (eg. a cafe).”

It is your safety you should be thinking about, if you do a google search you will find that there have been a number of incidents reported to the Police where people have been attacked or mugged from meetings on here.

I’m afraid my default is to imagine that every profile who interacts with me online is going to be a fantasist or time-waster until I have evidence to the contrary. I’d always encourage anyone else to do the same.

If I have a message from someone with a good number of pictures showing me their face and body or pictures of them having sex with others, and I can read verifications from a number of other users and see they were last verified relatively recently - then I have evidence the person is comfortable representing themselves, definitely does meet, has been meeting recently etc etc. I immediately can work on a positive basis. I’m not suspicious.

If it takes some hooha to get a face picture, I can’t read the verifications, or a verification was some years back, the online pictures they have are some years old… then I tread much more carefully. I will spend much more time seeking information before I am reassured.

If they have not been verified and are a new account etc, ultra-discreet on what they show, I presume the worst and work on the basis they are most likely to be a no-show. That doesn’t mean they will always be a time-waster. I have given a good amount of first verifications on here. But they were the exceptions who jumped through the hoops I set to winnow out the fantasist chaff.

I live in a relatively dense urban area so have no problem giving my full postcode to users online as that shows them where I am without identifying exactly where I live or giving them personal info. I can give them the further details when or if they have come to my area. If you live in Carmarthenshire or the Cotswolds like Madame Boots, this needs much more care as it much more rural and identification of people to property is more of an issue. You must take care.

Good luck to you in the future.

I think more to the point it sounds like a scam. Why did he put up your address. His Reason?

More to this.

I think (although it is poorly written) that the OP sent their address and a map to the person they were going to meet THEN was blocked by them once they had the information.

Had this happen many times over the years usually just give the post code till they confirm they ate coming and then don't show.I report them don't know what happens then.

Nothing. They just move on to the next person.
