I think there should be some way of stopping annoying users who quote a person's full story in their reply to a post.

Any suggestions as to what that might be?

… err… what?

If people quote the post in the thread to which they are replying… then everyone knows to what and to whom they are replying. If they don’t, then we don’t.

(I do feel some users could be more judicious and edit the previous post sometimes as it doesn’t always have to be quoted and reposted in its entirety.)

I agree with you _lackbootz. I apologise for my original post being vague. I think they should edit their reply in such a way that they're not quoting a full lengthy post. My understanding is that threads have a limit in size.

The number of messages in a thread is the same no matter how long they are.

But I would agree that it is helpful to delete miles of text that just makes reading a thread harder.

I am not sure there can be an automatic tool for this though as sometimes the context is useful and sometimes it isn’t.

Again I do apologise. I was thinking more on the stories and fantasy section. It's not fair on the OP.

It's only a few annoying users who need to be stopped, from posting at all. There is so much bullying going on here, it's ridiculous, admin don't give a toss but they're quick enough to take your money.

It’s a fair point about the endless scrolling.

But a user just needs to press the “new message” button instead of reply, and the thread isn’t included.

Many thanks _ookingaround. I wasn't aware a thread was limited by posts. I thought it was limited by size.

I can’t say for certain they aren’t limited by word count, but i have only seen threads end at 175 individual posts. And that is pretty consistent (with a couple of technicalities)
