Whos Near

Preston

Is something wrong with the "Whos near" location feature? Im getting search results from London which is strange as I live in west lancashire, and I dont consider London as being ... near!

It's 4.30pm on Sunday 31st Aug.

Fab tells me your home location is 260 miles away, which would be Preston, but it also says that You are located 400 miles away, which would be London or thereabouts.

Think you will find that one is based on the post code in your profile, the second (the mobile phone one) is based on the location of the mobile phone.

The second can also be affected by the use of a VPN connection depending on where the gateway being used is located.

I get told that the towns of N Cumbria are near which is accurate distance wise but unfortunately most of that mileage is taken up by the Solway Firth!

I seem to be having issues with it as well this week . I thought I may have a problem, so I wanted to do to test to confirm my suspicions. I went to a local cruise area. There for a good couple of hours and the nearest profile was showing as a couple of miles away. The bloke was in the car in front if me for the entire afternoon.

I then went to another local site and it was thesame issue. A bloke in the car next to me was showing as 3 miles away. At both sites I closed tge app and reopened then but it made no difference.

TLDR: I think Who is near fubction has a glitch.

The other day it said I was touching distance to friend my friend list he contacted me was you at I said at site oh he says it's you are within touching distance I looked again then said he 1.5 miles away

Might have something to do with how often the site does an update and refreshes the distance - similar to what happens with the online now/last seen. You see someone showing as online now, then two minutes later it changes to last seen 15 minutes ago.

I sometimes get 4-5 people viewing my profile all from the same part of the uk, which is nowhere near where I live. The place can vary. So sounds to me like there could be an issue

You have to give location permission if you're using your phone or browser and might get switched off now and again in defaults for the fab site etc....?

I have this problem continually. Checked both Safari and Chrome have allow location access on, have even changed my postcode in profile to a local one - still showing whose near profiles from my original location 90 miles away
