Temporary message ban

Good morning

Whilst organising a meeting this morning I was asked a number of questions by a tip that included my limits. In trying to clarify an area that I’m 100% not interested in (toilet sex shall we say) I used a well known word. I suspect it triggered an automatic two hour ban from sending messages. I’ve never encountered this before so was wondering if shying could confirm my suspicions? The sad this is the other guy probably thinks I’m a time waster that has suddenly blanked him. Hey Ho

Just log out and back in again and resend the amended message no need to wait two hours

I tried logging out and back to no avail. Never mind. I’m normally very careful about what wording I use. Of course it’s frustrating when the word I used was actually in a sentence where I was saying no thank you. I do understand that some automatic controls catch out the wrong people so I’m just wait and apologise to the guy when things clear. Thank you for the replies guys.

Happened to me, and I really don’t know why, I looked back at the messages I sent and couldn’t figure out what I had sent that was outside the rules ??

I agree

It seems odd that I cannot say " ...a decided no to .." without it counting as actually endorsing ... that thing .

Really doesn’t help when the “rules” are either vague or undefined. The problem being that in the English language the context of the use of a word can change its intent, and word filters just are not capable of making a distinction on that basis. So using a “banned” word in the context of offering advice to get help would trigger the same reaction by the system as using it in a threatening way.

Gent’s

Thank you to all that messaged me privately (another strange thing, you can receive messages whilst being banned from sending them). I’m back on now and will be more careful when I next try and clarify to someone what i don’t do.

How do we know what words are banned?

Is there a list?

That happened to me using the same suspect word.

I put a note on my status saying temporary message block will reply soon as poss.

Left it a while. Logged out closed the browser and logged back in.

It would be helpful if told what word or combination of words.

If there is a list of banned words, I have never found it. I have had a temporary chat ban a few years ago so I now take care of what I say in chats.

Normally the system gives you a warning to amend the said word in the message before the ban is implemented

For me, the ironic thing is that I was using a word in a sentence saying I’m absolutely not interested in it. Hey Ho.

"How do we know what words are banned?

If you are sending a message you will someimes get a message saying you can't use 'XXXX'. Edit the message and it will send

Yes, there must be a list somewhere for the system to be able to block people. Problem is there is no way for the CUSTOMERS to be able to check it.

This is humourous

Some years ago i worked for a company who did specialist landscaping work, mainly for local authorities. At one point the company had a new email system installed. This system had a filter for banned words that no one told us about

We had some very odd correspondance from one client complaining about our delays in responding to their enquiry. And our continuing lack of response to their replies to us about it.

It transpired that one of the words our new email system blocked was 'dyke'.

Rather unfortunate if your business involves installation and repair of these water retaining features.

Once we discovered this we were able to remove the word from the filter system.

But rather disturbing that words with legitimate meanings get hijacked and the original meaning forgotten.

This happened to me the other day when I had to remove a word but what I found odd was the post I was replying to had the same word in full in it

I’m surprised there’s been no clarification from a forum mod on this, so we can all avoid this error?

I have had several words blocked in messages and in my stories

In one of the latter the narrator was saying how he would accompany a guy to a party

He used the word ‘esc.rt’

It was rejected because the software used interpreted as a pr.st.t.ute’
