If it is based in the location of his IP address probably using VPN as it will be the VPN IP address. If it is based in his GPS location then I’d be very careful as he is either using something to change the reported location or lying.

Rawcliffe Bridge.

There are apps available to do all of this, as many of them want your email address, complaining that their regime doesn't allow gays, etc, so they insist they need to chat off here, and also complain too, that this app is not secure etc, etc.

DO NOT ENGAGE with them and block immediatelyl

If the location says within 10 miles, then it's not via gps or vpn.

To use this site you have to use a UK postcode for your home location, so what's happened is the guy has put in a postcode which is within 10 miles of the OP.

The same thing happens with people who go on holiday in europe or live part time in Spain etc, they cannot update their home location due to it having to be a UK postcode

There are two distances shown. One is based on the outbound post code (the first part of it) the other is based on the phones location. Tho OP didn’t specify whip distance they were looking at. I’ve seen an account showing 100 miles for the first and 6000+ for the second. If both are very similar distances and the sender admits they are somewhere abroad, then there is some underhand method being used to fake the second distance.

You'd only get the phones physical location on 'see who is near' though? And unless you are somewhere remote, would be filled with profiles before you get to 10 miles away

Also the OP stated 'within 10 miles' which would be a postcode location. If it was via gps it would say either 9 miles or 10 miles etc

I have a separate email address an a payg sim in an old phone for use here - in the case of a problem they can be closed without causing me real inconvenience.

For some of us British guys who actually live in Eastern Europe, Bulgaria in my case it's the only way we can keep a profile, but mine clearly states I am here.

The Russian ones usually spin a bit of a story about how prejudiced their lives are in Russia and that they have a cat. The latest one was about to visit his mum who he loves dearly. Block as they are scammers - I get one approach every 6 months who shows as in the UK then admits he’s in Moscow
