I see some threads max out on replies and get locked. Can the same happen if the replies are long instead?

e.g, is it work count or reply count, or mixture of both?

I can understand the 175 limit but it can be frustrating at times. Especially when someone quotes you on say post 167, disagrees with you or gets the wrong end of the stick. You log in a couple of hours later. Hope to put them straight but find the thread closed.

Yeah, whilst I never log out, I can see it being an issue for those that do, maybe some sort of notification that you've been quoted would be good.

Or the thread mysteriously disappears even when it has not reached 175. If a thread is removed or moved... it would be courteous to know why?

Threads created in the incorrect section will be moved. If a thread is closed, a reason will be posted. Threads that breach site rules will be removed.
