Should I stop trying to help by reporting cats, dogs, chickens, etc. in photos. There are multiple examples of such (previously reported) photos, so I don't want to be wasting my/Mods' time by making needless reports 🤔

No. It can take up to 48 hours for reports to be dealt with.
