"Can we not have an edit post function so we can edit the post instead of deleting and writing it again?" We can edit, as much as we like, BEFORE posting… but I know what you mean: we can all be a bit too keen to get it out there! 😉

"The trouble with an edit feature being available for any length of time is that posters can rewrite history. If you've made a mistake in the text of a fairly long post and want to correct it within the time limit just after posting you can copy it first, then delete the post and paste the copied text into a new one where you can amend it instead of having to start again from scratch. EDIT - As I have just done after spotting a spelling mistake. As you point out, you can’t accommodate delete your post for a limited time once posted. No reason why an edit function couldn’t be time limited in the same way, that would allow people to correct any typos without the ability to “rewrite history” (as you put it) at a later date.

F’ing spell checker changing what I wrote, that should be “you can always delete your post for a limited time once posted.” How much easier it would have been to just edit the post.

"Or you could use the preview message option which is just above post message to read it through and make any corrections before posting it." Only if you remember! 😉
