These are some common reasons text upgrades fail:

* You're not in the UK (text upgrades only work in the UK from a UK SIM) * You don't have sufficient credit if you're on PAYG

* You're not setup to receive adult premium content (contact your mobile network, they can age verify you and sort this)

* Your network has blocked your account from receiving premium contact because of other issues

* You don't have reception

* Your phone inbox is full

The first time I did it by text in November 2025 I had to age verify so I could receive adult premium content and it worked fine.

When I tried to renew by text in January 2026 it wouldn’t work because I had turned on iMessage on my phone and even after I had turned it off it still didn’t work.

Lebara customer support were no help so I ended up doing it by phone call instead.

Never had a problem paying by text, just get a note from ee saying it's gonna cost me a fiver and need to ok it, usually takes less than a minute from start to finish.
