Being taken for a ride

I was chatting to a young lad on here and everything was fine. We were planning to meet up and yes there was a huge age cap but he told me he didn’t care about that, he flattered me very step of the way and we then chatted on WhatsApp. We had arranged our meet and I admit it did seem a bit good to be true. I hashed him what he liked to drink and he told me red wine and chocolate. So I said I’d buy some fo him. After chatting a bit more he asked what I was doing that day. We were getting on like a house on fire. I said I was going shopping and he said while I was going out to get his wine and chocolate could I also buy him a Steam card so he could show off to his cousin with a new game before we met. This card was going to cost me £60 plus. Alarm bells immediately rang as I know this is a well known scam whereas you buy the card, give them the code for the card and then they vanish without any trace or comeback so I blocked him. Is it unusual to be scammed in this way on here? It’s the first time I’ve come across it. Has anything similar happened to anyone else?

You should report the profile, even though you have blocked him you can still report from a message. Nobody is safe from scammers. It isn't unusual for anybody to be scammed xx

Sorry you had to endure this behaviour, its a horrible feeling in the gut as well as in the head.

Best thing is to report the profile as said and then move on, take some comfort in it not being personal, even though it probably feels like it.

I had a similar experience and only found out chatting to another on here that I was having exactly the same conversation with the nasty cunt

Blocked and moved on.

There are good guys on here, just few and far between.

Had similar. Young guy wanted to meet. Said he adored bigger older bears so I fitted his category. Then asked if I would call into Tesco on my way to by some game card to 'keep his nephew occupied whilst we got down to 'business'. Don't understand these cards but, as with the OP, it was going to cost about 60 quid so I politely refused and ignored his pleas. Should have reported him.

I don't even put up with guys who ask me to bring them aromas, so I have never been scammed, but I am sure it is not just young lads who will try it on.

Saying that, there are a lot of friendly genuine guys on Fab.

Those who try to con you are not fabsters, they are w#nkers.

Got scammed here too. Sob story, stuck in Birmingham, no ticket home, felt sorry for him, he promised to repay me, never did. I wonder how many others he "hit" that day?. Reported, new account here, same face as the old one he shut down on here.

I had similar on facebook with a women called nurse becky one minute she in bristol and wanted to meet for sex as long as i buy her a stream card then few weeks later she messages im closer to you as im now living in portsmouth and still wanted a stream card for he kid this time

I do exactly the same and when I’m asked if I have aromas, I reply yes I do but I brought them for myself and not everybody else to use.

yes they are but nobody seems to do anything about it i have been nearly scammed but my bank stopped it thank goodness but a horrible feeling thanks for letting people know

A guy asked me to visit him at his house said ok sent post code fine it’s a bit far so he said send me your bank details and he would send me taxi fair so I sent the information but it was for a police charity lol
