It does, as long as they have been read by the recipient.

The sender has no control of any message that gets sent to another user.

The only way to remove any message that you have sent to another user on this site is to delete your own profile, at which point the message thread gets deleted too.

BUT if the recipient has put the thread in their saved messages folder it will still show there, but without the deleted used ID.
