My subscription has run out and i was debating whether to renew and which service Gold or Silver.

Now I see I have to pay to use the chatroom

I think this will drive people away and not encourage new users. I'm pleased I didn't pay up before the change, disappointed i won't be able to chat with friends.

You can still chat to people you'll just be limited to 100 messages a day. Sliver membership is £12 od for three months though lol.

Cambs village (south of Cambridge)

Prior to this change, few locally used chat and I had hope Fab would seek to encourage greater participation. Unfortunately I can't see this requirement increasing use of the chat rooms from locals around me and thus the value to me is therefore questionable.

I'm interested to hear from those still accessing the chat rooms whether they remain active and worthwhile?

This is the first time EVER I have been able to assist someone with anything to do with technology I usually haven't got a clue

Yes. I tried to cam just now, and found out by looking in the lounge in the forum.

Fucking disgusting attitude towards members...no advance warning!

And to someone in a similar situation as me, £5 a month is not easy to find!

Spot on - that's what I do. It's always surprised me that the silver option seems better value than the gold - certainly very cheap on a daily basis.

Bit peeved that a fab service I used often and to great effect has been withdrawn despite me spending money on memberships over the years.

Tis the way of the world nowadays, but I hope that they think twice and allow us old timers (older accounts) free access to a section of the site that helps drive traffic their way.

Silver is £5 for 50 days if you renew early they give you 5 free days that's 55 days for £5. Where else can you get value like that nowadays.
