If a contact disappears, along with mail conversation, views and hotlist for that person, does it mean they have deleted their account?

Yes if the message threads disappear they have deleted their account or been removed by admin.

That was my thoughts as well, their profile would still show if blocked, you just wouldn't be able to view it of message that person.

Yes, messages wouldn't disappear from your inbox if they just blocked you (though it would show if they deleted your sent messages). I find it a very annoying feature on this site that they completely vanish from your mailbox when they delete your account, makes you wonder if you hallucinated them.

If you know their username go to fabguys.com/profile/username and it'll say if they are no longer on site or have blocked you.
