Friends list on profile

In privacy settings there is an option to show or hide friends list on profile, does anyone know what this option means , thanks

If you use a PC desktop and visit a profile it displays their friends list. The friend list never shows on the phone version.

If ypu want to keep ypur friends list private you click the option.
