Some classics can't be remade( Faulty towers, Father Ted) but what could be remade/ updated?

Sapphire and steel.Time travellers sorting out time anomalies..

Old grey whistle test..Fresh singers/bands given a national airing..

A new Airplane movie ?

"Hellraiser films with new special effects

"

I think it would kill them. Old school animatronics do it for me much better than work of some geeks in a computer room. Back in the day it was all made out of something physical and I guess subconsciously it adds to the overall effect. Modern computer generated effects do nothing for me - too sterile and clean. But that's just me. I love Hellraiser, especially first two movies. Unfortunately next installments were getting worse one after another.

I loved the original films.

It's a great concept for the story, but there's potential to reach a whole new audience now who have not seen the originals.

There's a Dragons Den idea there somewhere

One quiz show that was cheesy as hell, but could be brought bang up to date and a perfect Saturday night programme......

3.2.1.

Think about it, yes, the original was cheesy, but....

The Killers, or little Mix or whoever, do their new single - they read a clue....

A comedian, say Joe Lycett or Sarah Miican does a turn, promotes their upcoming tour - reads a clue

A new West End Show does a song - reads a clue

You get the idea - prizes also up to date, crap like a bin, or a vacuum, a gadget bundle, holiday in Mexico, A car like a Discovery, 100k etc...

Put it this way , if Beat the Wall with Danny Dyer can do it - that can !!!

I completely agree with a remake of Sapphire and Steel, although I thought the original episodes were mostly pretty good. I do feel the writers and producers missed a trick by not widening the cast to include more cameos (or even whole episodes) from some of the other elements mentioned in the opening title sequence. Silver was in a couple and Lead was useful in one episode, but I always thought Rula Lenska would have been perfect casting as (who else?) Copper!

I be wish they would remake The Dam Busters with cgi.

Interesting fact: you can watch the attack on the Death Star in Ep4 with the sound track from the attack on the dams in The Dam Busters and it fits really well and vice versa - watch the attack on the dams with the start wars dialogue. Awesome!

They're in the process of making a 4th Matrix film. I also loved the first film and was disappointed by the sequels.

I think they should stop remaking classic horror films. Rob Zombie's Halloween remake was a dreadful bone-headed mess.

I personally would like to see the film

“ FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR “ remade with the special effects that the film industry has got these days at its own disposal, the original film isn’t too shabby for its own time period either.

Certain films shouldn’t even be considered as a possibility for a remake ie “ SOME LIKE IT HOT “ “ THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION “ AND EVEN COMEDIES LIKE “ THE GREAT OUTDOORS “ “ GROUNDHOG DAY “ & UNCLE BUCK “ AS TRYING TO REPLACE THESE ORIGINAL COMEDY FILM SCREEN ACTORS WHO HAD THE FILMS LEADING ROLES IN SAID FILMS IS A IMPOSSIBLE TASK AS JOHN CANDY, DAN AYKROYD AND BILL MURRAY ARE LEGENDS IN THOSE FILMS AND THE MAJORITY OF THE FILMS THAT THEY HAVE ALL MADE. IT WOULD BE LIKE TRYING TO REPLACE A FAMILY HEIRLOOM OF GREAT SENTIMENTAL VALUE WITH A 21ST CENTURY VERSION OF THE ITEM. JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS OLD IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT YOU HAVE GOT TO UPDATE/UPGRADE IT TO MEET UP WITH THE PRESENT DAYS STANDARDS GUIDELINES AND ETHICS. EVERYTHING IS OF ITS OWN PLACE AND TIME IN HISTORY WHAT MIGHT NOT BE MORALLY AND ETHICALLY RIGHT NOW IN 2021 DOESN’T MAKE WHATEVER IT IS OBSOLETE OFFENSIVE & WRONG. TAKE THE BLM ??? DEMONSTRATIONS IN BRISTOL AND OXFORD LAST YEAR WHEN THE MOB PULLED DOWN TWO STATUES OF PROMINENT BUSINESSMEN OF THE CITIES FROM WHENCE THEY WERE STANDING HAVING BEEN “ AT THE TIME PERIOD & THAT CERTAIN PLACE IN THESE PEOPLES LIVES IN HISTORY “ HUGELY POPULAR MEN WHO CONTRIBUTED A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF THEIR OWN PERSONAL WEALTH TO BUILD UP & CREATE THE SAID CITIES TO THE STANDARD OF WHICH IS STILL VISIBLE IN THE PRESENT DAY, BUT BECAUSE SLAVERY WAS A BUSINESS MORAL AND ETHICALLY SOUND DURING THIS TIME PERIOD OF THESE MEN SOMEHOW THAT NOW MAKES THEM POLITICALLY INCORRECT AND ETHICALLY WRONG. BUT IF YOU HAVE GOT NOTHING TO COMPARE WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD IE A DIFFERENT VIEWPOINT/STANCE ON A CERTAIN TOPIC THEN YOU HAVE GOT KNOW CONCEPT OF WHAT IS MORALLY RIGHT AND WRONG. SLAVERY IS IMMORAL UNJUST AND ETHICALLY WRONG BUT THE MEN OF THE PERIOD IN HISTORY SHOULDN’T BE BEING JUDGED BY THE STANDARDS OF THE WORLD IN WHICH WERE LIVING IN TODAY BUT REMEMBERED FOR THE THINGS THAT THEY ACHIEVED IN THEIR OWN TIME PERIOD. PULLING DOWN 300 YEAR OLD STATUES IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE A DAMN THING IN THE WORLD. GUY GIBSON OF DAMBUSTER FAME FROM WW2 HIS BLACK LABRADOR WAS CALLED NIGGER ( THE COLOUR ) SHOULD WE BE ERASING HIM FROM THE HISTORY BOOKS TOO ??

THINK THAT I HAVE MADE MY POINT BUT GOING BACK TO FILMS I DON’T BELIEVE IN ALL THIS CRAP ABOUT HAVING TO REMAKE FILMS THAT ORIGINALLY HAD MEN IN THE LEAD ROLES AND REMAKING IT WITH WOMEN IN THE SAME LEAD ROLES.......THE BEST EXAMPLE HAS GOT TO BE THE REMAKING OF “ GHOSTBUSTERS “ THE ORIGINAL IS ICONIC AND THE REMAKE IS WELL WANK SHIT TERRIBLE & NOT EVEN REMOTELY FUNNY IS A MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT LOL.

STAY SAFE AND STAY REAL

I thought most of it was quite good for the time it was made apart from the lame ending where the villain (Charles Gray) had to pretend to fall into a pit / hell. Patrick Mower was quite fit as well.

"Get Carter,as the Stallone remake was appalling "

My point exactly, the original is sublime..any remake is doomed to mediocrity at best.

.

I thought the remake of King Kong with Naomi Watts was by far a better version .

Remakes are rarely as good as the original to those who saw the original.

Remakes generally are crap in my opinion. The original is about the story, remakes they generally butcher the story and the film is about the effects.

The only “remakes” of Bond movies were Casino Royal and Never say never again (remake of Thunderball).

Too many remakes already ..... I'd rather have original material than all the recycled Hollywood crap we get these days.
