"Doesn't work for everyone. All of our brains are wired differently. I'd recommend swimming laps as a way to force your brain to switch over. Just concentrating on the rhythmic breathing and keeping count of the total number of lengths swam can have a similar effect. Also a really good cardio and core workout. Gives you a reason to wear speedos too. Nice idea! 👍

"Does anyone here practice meditation? A friend has been trying to convince me to give it a go but I just get very bored very quickly and my mind wanders off and I end up thinking about normal day to day stuff. " I used to have a very dedicated meditation practice, but sadly have stopped. Keep in mind that meditation isn't about sitting with an empty mind; no-one can do that. Meditation is more about bringing your focus back onto your object of meditation (normally your breath). So your mind will wander, you will think 'this is boring', then you'll catch yourself on and bring your mind back to your breath. Then your mind will wander,... Repeat, repeat, repeat. I found it made me less reactive, calmer, less anxious; happier even. There's some good apps, such as 'Insight Meditation Timer' and 'Headspace'. Probably some others too.
