Fantastic to hear that 35 Afghan footballers (and their families) will arrive soon in the UK from Pakistan. A sign that the current Home Office has a heart after all?

Totally agree, looks like rescue dogs and footballers were given priority over translators, aid workers etc. Shameful tokenism. And to make matters worse the U.K. government is now happily talking to the Taliban after having fought them to 20 years. Utter hypocrisy

They are the Afghanistan Womans Development Team. How good would it be if somehow we can get those left behind over by Xmas?

Pakistan has been hosting 3 million Afghan refugees for the better part of 40 years, while you’re complaining about 35 people? For the record, the Pakistani government has made clear that Afghan refugees can stay for as long as they need, these 35 footballers are not being force to go. The U.K. government has offered to resettle them. So you might want to ask Liz Truss and Priti Patel what the actual resettlement policy and criteria is?

Fingers crossed some of these players flourish in teams here. Out of misery, humanity has to win.

If it's women footballers, their lives are at risk. We can't save everyone, but if we've helped these people, I'm happy.

The criteria is put in a hotel for next 6 months with the

20.000 boat people

25.000 Syrians.

20.000 Afghans.

We getting quite collections

My concern is how they all going to attend the Mosques surly we have to get the Saudi government to build more .

Let alone the housing we don’t have for people already homeless in the UK .

Well at least I get the car cleaned for a £5 ,and Uber driver turn up even quicker

The Government fought the IRA for decades until someone had the bravery to start a dialogue with them

Sometimes you have to change your approach

We can’t go into Sfghanistan alone we aren’t wealthy or powerful enough and there’s no reason now compelling enough

It’s a UN matter now that US has dropped everyone in the shit…again

It does sound a bit woke that 35 females got out. But what the hell if someone got some benefit out of that whole cluster fuck of an evacuation I do not begrudge them. People sure as hell wanted to get out.

I mean the government can’t even house the ones they brought over a few weeks back, so why do they keep bringing more over ?

I was reading this morning that Afghan refugees are intentionally making themselves “homeless” because they don’t want to stay in hotels

They are registering with London councils as homeless not so much that they don’t want to stay in hotels but want to circumnavigate the Gov’s dispersal plans to relocate them around the country, they have obviously been getting guidance to work the system in an attempt to stay in the capital. Ungrateful much !
