Seriously, though, the yearly change of time back and forth by an hour provides evidence of the effects of lack of sleep on your health. I read that the loss of an hour’s sleep in the spring increases your risk of a heart attack by about 20% for a day or two.

Yeah, why we still do this is beyond me. There’s next to no advantage, kids walking to school and back in the light is the only reason left I think. But as most kids are driven to school I don’t think even that applies

Totally agree with both above comments it is the same 24 hours of daylight but pitch black by 4 in the winter is very depressing I feel mg mood lift when end of January comes round and you begin to notice lighter evenings are coming

Why would you necessarily lose a hours sleep. Its a Sunday, have a lie in. Or go to bed s hour earlier if working.

There was an experiment once--early '70s I think--when we stayed on summertime all year. I thought it was brilliant but our Scottish friends didn't like it. Can't really see why England/Wales cannot be on different in a time zone to Scotland. A lot of larger countries e.g. USA, Canada, Russia, Australia; manage quite well with various time zones

"Apparently the Clocks have to go back this weekend.

Christ I can’t remember where I bought them or even if I have any receipts? "

This may ha e a slight chance in being slightly amusing in 6 months time....its just that the clocks went forward this weekend 😶

They would be 2 hours late in that scenario, the excuse for being 1 hour late..."ooooh! I forgot all about the clocks going forwards!"
