Probably some are. It was always a long standing joke about matelots having sex with each other. Up until 1999/2000 any gay activity was a dismissible offence in all sections of the UK armed forces. Also very little chance of privacy on board ships.

I know a retired naval commander and he is most definitely gay.

Oh being ex navy that made me giggle. One of the ships I served on in the early 90’s had a Royal Marines on board and we shared the same showers. I got to see many naked Marines while on board.

I never played while on board as I was too scared to get caught as not only would I be dismissed from the navy but also have to serve time in jail.

Saying that I had plenty of fun when on shore, one time I had a lovely night with a young officer.

The rock apes , I was in NI for a while and spent time at RAF Aldergrove, they always got filled in down the bowling alley on the camp and the NAAFI bop lol!

I was army but all my family Navy, my grandad was especially proud of it ex HMS Ganges and then he was an instructor there, he always used to tell me to join the Navy and not the army as I would always have a bed in the Navy lol.

Recently I've been learning a fair bit about the Navy and watching shows about it and looked at joining the Navy reserves but I'm too old by 2 years now
