The remake of Dune looks as if it will be good, the first attempt was a limp bisquit. The film version of The Devil Rides Out was apaling and deserves a better attempt. Are there any remakes you would like to see.

Dennis Wheatley novels were brilliant in their day I read the devil rides out several times and some of his other occult novels too.

I agree the film was awful. I didn't know there was a remake.. there should be

I actually like Lynch's take on Dune.

West Byfleet. Woking,

Classic films should never be remade! That's why there classics in the first place!

Example. The remake of Ben-hur... Omg

Was born in the 80s so would love to see some of the classic 80’s / 90’s kids cartoon shows remade into decent films.

Teenage mutant ninja turtles

Masters of the universe

Thundercats

Transformers

They always fuck up remakes for example....

Female Ghostbusters team

Pet Semetary

Nightmare on Elm Street

Leatherface

The Hills have eyes

Halloween

Superman

Its like the film companies have run out of fresh ideas so constantly rehash old TV or films

Most remakes are cash-grabs ... Pretty unnecessary and inferior to the originals.

The recent remake of Dune looks to be an exception to that usual rule .... the original being a bit hit n miss.

Plenty of opinion on Dune.

Does anyone remember The Devil Rides Out? The Dennis Wheatley book was great but the film was a real clunkers, terrible effects and worse acting. It could be great if made properly.

Many great books ruined by films....Wheatley was pervy and needed the right director

Along the same lines but from a different angle -

The Theatrical release of The Justice League (Joss Whedon version), was a mess and miss ..... But the Jack Snyder cut is another thing entirely, and all the better for it, (there's even his black and white version that adds another dimension).

His Director's cut of Batman Vs Superman is also superior to the theatrical release

Black Christmas. When a Stranger Calls. The Vanishing.

All have their moments.

The shot for shot full colour remake of Psycho has some interesting moments.

Friday the 13th for me was ruined by all the nasty titties on display.

How about films yet to be made of unfilmable books?

Blood Meridian (Cormac McCarthy) has been in a few directors' and producers' heads for years now but I think they all know they will fail to capture the weirdness and horror of the novel.

I was enthralled with both versions of 'The postman always rings twice', the 1940s with Lana Turner and the 1980s with Jessica Lange and Jack Nicholson

We definitely need a remake of Spiderman. It must be well over 20 minutes since the last one...

"Same goes for Gravity's Rainbow."

Gravity's rainbow sounds like a casting attack on a jrpg.

The dark night trilogy was a lot better than the original Batman's and the Arkham games were a lot better than the all the movies, can't wait for the next iteration.

Both remakes were totally pointless

It's one on which I can bore at professional level, but I simply cannot understand why they remade Solaris.

Tarkovsky's 1972 version was classic and never bettered as slow, thoughtful hard sci-fi. Clooney and Soderbergh were obviously fanbois but the remake was dreadful, clichéd and glib.

Generally I think that when they try and do a remake of a classic film they totally ruin it. Alter the story, put effects ahead of the plot. Example “The day the earth stood still” Remake crap in comparison to the original.

They seem to have run out of ideas and there have been far too many remakes in recent years. Then we had the debate whether the next Bond should be a woman.

Why not invent a new Bond/Bourne type character who's female? Audiences would take to it. Gamers never had an issue with Tomb Raider and the Lara Croft character and that was over twenty years ago.

Although the remake is an old film itself now, Cape Fear with Robert De Niro is better than the original film with Robert Mitchum as the bad guy Max Cady IMO …

I still find the original Nosferatu (1922) much scarier than the 1979 version, which was however not at all bad, with Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani 🦇📽

Better than the original , John Carpenters The Thing and I do have a love for My Bloody Valentine with Jensen Ackles.

One film tat definitely didn't need a remake or an American take is Martyrs.

The original was a one off .

The Fog remake is unforgivable too.

One film that I would like to see remade ( although I do have a soft spot for it ) and bringing Dennis Wheatley back to the Forums is To The Devil.....A Daughter .

Not sure whether to go and see the naked gun with Liam Neeson or if it will ruin what I already know as an all time great film!

Anyone seen it, and have a verdict.

Don’t think it will ever live up to the original. Maybe ok for the “yoof” who’ve never seen the original. 🤷‍♂️
