Blackpool

I love the British seaside, the pier, the fish and chips, the weather, the cabaret. Be it Brighton or Blackpool, Tenby or Skegness. Forever immortalised by Brighton rock, and Patrick hamilton, always wandering if I will bump into Ralph Gorse, or Mr peste, on the seafront. Or possibly pinky seeking cubit.Always wanted to buy George Harvey Bone a pint, in Brighton at the Metropol.

I'm curious as to what it is about Blackpool that people are saying that its a dump. Can you be a bit more specifi?

I used to visit customers there once a month in the 90s and always found it a good honest place. 20 sticks of rock for a pound, great fish and chips, potted shrimp on the pier. As a kid went ther eon day trips, loved the pleasure beach, the tower etc. I remember Yates as it used to be, a place for old d*unks. Now all Yates are places for young d*unks on the razzle. In modern times, I was led to believe it was the gay capital of the north, so I am wondering why it's not bening favourably referred to on here?

Some of the best coastline and beaches aren't the main ones. Oftentimes, drive a few miles up the road and you'll find some lovely spots that only the locals know about. In saying that, recently visited Staithes and fell in love with it.

Yes, frantically making sandcastles to keep warm. The freezing sea ("it's lovely once you're in"). The leaden skies and endless days of rain ("I think the rain is easing"). But hang on, here's a treat : a stick of rock, harder than reinforced concrete' with Skegness all the way through it. Choose a saucy postcard ("if those puppies are for sale missus, I'll have the one with the pink nose").

Just wait for Eden North. This will change Morecambe radically for the better, if we consider what the Eden Project did for the Cornish economy.

"Sadly, Blackpool has become a bit sleezy. But ok if you want that.

Perhaps 'even more sleazy' would have been better. The problem with many seaside towns started a few decades ago, when more people began to take holidays abroad.

Hotels and guest houses turned into DSS Hostels, attracting people from the big cities and the drink/drug and crime problems they brought with them. Not a pretty sight.

You just have to know the area and the best times to go 😉

I

So you are the guy we need to keep in with for the hot spots…..😁

Crastor…..😍

Love The Pipers Pitch and their Auchtermuchty burgers and kipper buns…..😛

😊 know the place like the back of my hand from Craster all way to north of Bamburgh I do loads of Sea Fishing so know the all the small bays etc etc

And yes the Pipers Pitch is the real deal 😋

Mind it’s got the perfect spot 👌

You are a lucky guy it’s a beautiful coastline. Harsh in the winter I would imagine though."

It’s a breathtaking coastline and yes it can be harsh in winter especially during a real winter storm but I love it the colder the better as it keeps all the fair weather folk away so you can have the whole place to yourself.

It’s the best time of year to fish I love nothing more than fishing the beaches and rocks on a freezing cold winters night 😊

No one around just me and my thoughts 👌

"Would love to be on a beautiful beach in Tenby eating fish and chips and watching the insane antics of the seagulls as I throw chips in the air. Followed by a few pints, and some raucous karaoke murdering some classic elvis numbers. Living the dream. "
