There’s 2 types of cooking. The day to day cooking just to eat, which is functional and boring, and I dont particularly enjoy.

Then there’s the special occasion cooking, which takes longer, but can have wonderful results, and I love doing that kind of cooking.

Cooked dinner for friends of ours last weekend. She was impressed and he was embarrassed to admit he has never cooked in his life.

Must admit I don't cook very often as my wife enjoys cooking and baking, but when I get the chance I enjoy it, very satisfying whe it turns out well.

How else have I survived this long? Had to do a lot of the cooking when I ran a pub. Best was when F&B manager in a hotel. Chef failed to turn up to work. Probably d*unk in a ditch somewhere. 60 guests waiting for there breakfast. Jacket off, sleeves rolled up and I cooked 60 breakfasts.

While singing....

Sing a song of sexpots

A kitchen full of fun

Four and twenty chickens

Well and truly done

On the kitchen table

They were most obscene

Now wasn't that a bona nosh

Yes, and quite frequently I do. I use the oven, the hob, the airfryer, the slow cooker, the rice cooker, the barbecue......not all at the same time I hasten to add Cooking isn't that difficult, it's baking that's hard....(my opinion only)

Pretty much self taught and from an early age. Semi-invalid mother, stepfather who could 'burn water' so had to learn. Made some quite creative dishes when running my own pub. Did do a one-day-a-week catering course for pub licensees at a local catering college but didn't learn much more than I'd already found out the hard way. Won a cake competition once, to my astonishment, at a St John's Ambulance fundraiser. However never really been able to produce good pastry. One of my stepsister's once described my pastry as 'interesting!'

Same here. Some early instruction in cookery would have been very useful to me when i started living alone, but i had to teach myself. It's not hard with one or two basic books.

i still can't sew worth a damn, though ...
