It is a religion of peace , someone who from the offset has a negative view would not be able to understand especially when you have never taken the time to come away from all the crap you do on a daily basis.

Don’t judge if anything go away and learn or keep your negativity for one of your own mates who give a shit .

If some people stray away from the religion does that mean all are the same ? That is a lack of education to make a sweeping statement .

If a Christian commits a murder as you read about these incidents all the time , does that mean all Christians or white people should be seen in the same light ?

It is easy to get arrogant and make such remarks. You clearly have no knowledge .

Seems to be more than a little confusion on this thread

I asked if OP ( Yasmin) could enlighten we ignorent on the finer meanings if Eid

The Lone Ranger from chapel land Googled some facts and somehow our convo was taken as sarcasm! It wasn't and I'd still like someone to impart a little insider information regarding the deeper meaning of this festival . ( like Xmas isn't just about gifts) .

As has been repeatedly said ignorence leads to fear and intolerance surely we have at least one follower who could take a moment to explain Eid

If it’s figures you want, then far right attacks in the US are far more prevalent than Islamic extremist attacks.

During Trump’s term, there were 4 thought to be Islamic extremism.

While the far right was behind 12 attacks.

I’m not blaming you personally for attacks but you do say that if you do not condemn, you support. The support I mean is that of not seeing a bigger picture that hate breeds hate and so the cycle goes on. Making sweeping generalisations about one group of people, is unhelpful to co existing.

I think that the reason you hear “religion of peace” so often, is that those who are part of Islam are so sick of a minority being translated as a majority.

Surely you would rather keep hearing “we are a religion of peace” than something to the contrary?

Bloody hell are you just nuts???? Stop dropping shit on this chat. Go and think this through carefully… what you’ve just done is bring out all the hate based crap since 911 in the media especially Fox News for example. A few idiots don’t represent us and never did.. did the crusaders represent you when they killed, taped and murdered everyone on the Middle Ages? I don’t hold you to account for that so why do you think it’s ok to hold me to account for things that others did… who didn’t represent the religion but their own warped reality. If you can’t come out and display love n peace to all… keep away .. period.

Can someone help me please.

My toyboy is from a Muslim family, and he tells me Eid is coming up.

I'm not religious, so I'm quite ignorant.

I just paid for his hair to be done - braids - and his family are not happy.

(No, before you ask, I did not - I knew his hair was bothering him, and I offered to treat him to whatever style HE wanted. His family as far as I know do not know about me)

What is the significance of hair and Eid?

I think he looks super sexy in braids, and he is a more confident person for getting his hair done how he wants it.

But he has their weight on his shoulders.

What should I do?

He is talking now about getting another style that might be a compromise. Turns or something.

Without plugs you can't have braids.

Plugs are replanting you hair in bald spots

Braids are a tight plat

Why are they unhappy?

Surely it's about him feeling good about the way he looks.

Definitely not bald.

Said he’d never had his hair done before.

Very fine, long Afro hair.

He’s 20. East African.

Braids can look really neat and tidy.

I can understand if it was a Mohican or other rebellious style.

Whenever someone changes their style, it's best just to count to 10, let the dust settle, and get used to the new look.

He should hold firm and suggest they relax for a bit.

Re: Sara. Eid-al-Adha I believe. Early June. Festival to commemorate Abraham given a last minute reprieve from sacrificing his son--either Isaac [Jewish tradition or Ishmail Muslim tradition] I know it is a feast, a celebration, but no either about hair styles. You need to consult your local Iman.

Thank you.

I asked him, and the expectation is that everyone turns out their smartest for Eid.

I told him his hair now is very smart.

It’s like what you see on footballers and musicians - nothing gay about it

That was what I said to him yesterday- they will soon get used to his new look

He’d never had his hair styled before, so it’s a bit of a change in look
