Travelling to Barcelona, any gay hotel recommendations?

I stayed in Axel Hotel a few years ago, in the LGBT neighbourhood, and it was very swanky and sexy.

Was it a nice stay?

Yes, it was lovely. And gay.

The sexy young guys on the desk told me they had left something special for me in the room.

A bottle of complimentary Champagne and two glasses.

They had massage services and a sauna on the top floor, and advertised room visits.

I didn't drink in the hotel bar - I went out - but it was just as swanky as the rest of the building.

I missed my flight from Bristol, so ended up staying only two nights instead of the 3 that I booked.

Midweek, and it seemed quite quiet.

I learned later that Axel is an up-market chain aimed at the LGBT community in the Spanish-speaking world. The hotel in Barcelona was their first.

When I was in that part of Spain I stayed In Stiges, which is a gay friendly town not far from Barcelona.

I've stayed at the one in CG. I wouldn't really call it up upmarket but it was certainly decent for the price and I'd happily stay there again. I've heard good things about the Barcelona one

Hope you have a fabulous time!

We've got return flights booked to Barcelona in October.

No accommodation yet.

Sitges is a bit pricey, so probably somewhere in the Eixample neighbourhood.

Go to Sitges, nice gay area. My mum used to live there and I spent a lot of time there.

I have stayed in the Axel Barcelona the rooms suggest you leave your room door open if your wanting. The bathroom is see through windows and Our room window looked into other room windows.A fun place for sure.I agree the one in playa del ingles is newer and more down market for the visitor and much cheaper.

I remember the foyer of Axel in Barcelona being super-swanky.

Totally over-sized and glam armchairs beneath huge wall-hangings of the likes of Lauren Bacall.

That must've been 2014 or so.

In the room, the bathroom was positioned on a raised platform and the walls were made of clear glass.

The whole place seemed to be designed with fun in mind.
