"I don’t think they are a good look. Always associated them with pervy old men. They can be pervy young men in them as well!" Can be but like you said the younger guys don’t tend to wear them. Maybe its a fear as coming across as pervy or being perved on.

"And if the S rubs off!!!!" Isn't this the crux of the problem. Why should Speedos and other form fitting swimwear be stigmatized as being perverted somehow? It's all part of the man shaming that's been happening over the last few years

They are designed for competitive swimming, yet i see people on the beach wearing them, around hotel swimming pools etc and just can’t help that the only reason people are wearing them in those places is because they want people to see what they are packing and must get a thrill out of it, thats pervy. What other reason is there as they aren’t that comfortable or practical. Your first post sums it up really, i think you only want younger people to wear them so you can check them out (see what there packing if you like) that again is pervy.

" Trunks and speedos i would say are different things. And like i said they are made for swimming so the fact that people swim in them no problem there. Im talking about the people that wear them around the pool on holiday or on the beach. I know theres water there but Ive never seen anyone in them doing laps in the sea or holiday pool. The fact the OP mentioned not seeing young guys in them on the beach suggest he wanted to see them in them and have a good look. Nothing wrong with just having a look but it is by definition a bit pervy.

"Another thing about wearing Speedos. They allow your legs to get more sun tan, when at the beach, etc. Unless you are at a nudist beach, when you wear nothing. I am not bothered, if guys are perving or not." Exactly this. I wear them because I dont want tan lines within inches of the knee. They also give better support than swim shorts. Fashionable? Unfashionable? Couldn't care less - it's what I feel comfortable in that matters most to me.

Like others have said and how this thread started is you never see young people wearing them so hence “old”. You don’t see women in them so hence “men”. And pretty much every single person on this thread that like them have referenced being able to either show their bulge or see other wearers bulges so hence “pervy”. "Proper swimming trunks like speedos don't enhance the bulge, they actually squash it flat. There is plenty of more showy beach wear even in shorts form. It is also possible to show more by free-balling in loose fitting shorts. I think there is a lot of projection going on here. I usually get naked at the beach and wear speedos to swim in a pool for exercise. There is nothing inherently or intentionally sexual in either activity or choice of attire. Going to be in a hotel with a pool soon and thinking of wearing them there as it should be quieter but have to admit I’m really nervous. Will take shorts as a back up in case I chicken out. I'm definitely no swimmer, bit like the Titanic, half way across and no further, but always have, from a young teenager, worn swimming trunks then Speedo style and on occasions swim thongs. So guys wear what you like, just remember that baggy swim shorts often teamed with T shirts will do you no favours if you get caught up in a strong sea current or rip tide." Cor yes please!

"Loads of men of all ages wear them in Australia to the beach and the pool. Anyone who is a good swimmer knows you slip through the water better and can move unhindered. Beach lifesavers wear them for that reason. Also huge with the blokiest of blokes - rugby players - they train in them and play in them because they are sturdier than undies, often in a brand called Budgy Smugglers. If you think they’re pervy that’s on you, not speedo wearers. " Well said!

"I’m off on a beach holiday in the next few days. I’ll be wearing my skimpy bulge revealing speedos - I don’t have the body for it, but who cares. No pics, or it didn't happen! I would send one … but you hid your profile!

"And if the S rubs off!!!! Isn't this the crux of the problem. Why should Speedos and other form fitting swimwear be stigmatized as being perverted somehow? It's all part of the man shaming that's been happening over the last few years I think its more around why people are wearing them in the places they do. " But women can wear bikinis and swimsuits?

"I wear briefs daily, I don't want boxer/short length tan lines. Really don't care what any onlookers think about it, they're comfortable " I’m the same, wear briefs or a jock most days so wearing Speedo’s makes no difference. Don’t have the body for them but don’t really care what others think!

"Fuck fashion" Exactly - I wear them because Speedo’s are comfortable and don’t tangle when swimming or in a hot tub…. but prefer to be naked and they’re the next best thing.

"No way would I wear speedos you need at least some sort of package and a fit body to look good in them " Hey Mr Rugged. Stop that! I'm fairly sure that you'd look quite good in them.
