Common sense applies. Simple public nudity in pursuit of a lawful activity is not illegal. The three caveats relate to sexual activity, mental illness and the intention to cause fear and alarm. I walk my local hills five days a week for 2-3 hours, sometimes up to 5 hours. I bump into people from time time and chat, some i have known for many years. I view my walking as a healthy pursuit, a privilege and i dont abuse it. I am complaint free and intend to keep it that way.

Budby Forest South, part of Sherwood Forest, has been used by naturist as a walking venue for years. It’s managed by RSPB who put up signs advising visitors that they may encounter naturists.

Please be aware that there’s nothing sexual involved and, if caught, the regulars will report to the police.

There’s a facebook group for naturist rambling in this area.

The Police have a flowchart to follow in order to determine if a crime may have been committed. Where i walk regularly, i emailed the landowners explaining that i am a naturist, that I walk naked, i point them to the law on the matter, i give them details of my usual times and routes.

I have only come across the Police once and that was because they were on the hills looking for a vulnerable person. He was later found on a railway line

. They had no interest in me.
