If you don't get sex often then do it event based, if your at it 6 out of 7 days take it regular...simples really

Well yeah that was going to be my point. Makes sense doing that. However the nurse told me even if that was the case (having rare sex), it’s still better to do it once a day incase you get caught out or miss a dose etc.

I take it every day, not because I have sex every day, but because once I get in the habit I do not forget. I take one of these "Calcium and Vitamin D" pills with it every day, too.

If you take it every day then you're good to go for an impromptu dicking down should the opportunity arise. Without having to nip home and take a couple.

And the regularity of taking it daily for me is better as Sara said above. You get into the habit.

Reading

Due to impact on my kidney function I was advised to switch from daily to event basis as long as I don't exceed 8 pills in any 7 day period.

Same here. And I was encouraged to do that by more than one health professional at the local clinic.

Daily, you get into routine of taking it.

Most people have sex randomly, on nights out, or at parties. I'm not yet to meet a person who says I'll be horny on ......

So if you just take it daily when you go to the pub and one thing leads to another

Or

You go to that party and end up fucking in the bathroom.....

Your covered

Never know anyone to do sex by clock and if they do they sound boring

Pill a day keeps HIV away

I take it event based because I'm not that active and I generally have an extra script lying around.

The 2 initial pills that you take for event based can give some guys diarrhoea.

So , if I plan on bottoming and I know I'm going to have sex on Saturday for example. I'll start taking one pill a day on the monday. Basically you have enough in your system by Saturday that you don't need to start with the double dose (and risk the side effect of loose stool and changes to your pattern of when you go number two).

That's what works for me. But, confirm it with your prep doc and don't just take my word for it.

I also keep a few extra pills in different places (eg. at work) so that If I forget the 1-1 pill Sunday or Monday morning, there's no hassle.

Go to your local sexual health clinic.

They are private and discreet and do not involve your GP if you do not want them to.

Go to your local sexual health clinic not your GP.

They will test you first and let you have it free.

Actually getting it from a sexual health clinic is important rather than just trying to buy it on line because they need to check for any interactions with other meds you are on. Also the strategy for taking (daily or event based) which is important because it can put a strain on your kidneys.

They can also give you hepatitis vaccinations as well.

You can also get virtually the same protection by the T and S method. Take it regularly on days beginning with T and S. My logic is that this would have less impact on the kidneys. You need your kidney function checked every 3 months either way. This method was outlined on the Prepster website and I double check it’s still considered safe every time I have my check at the clinic.

I’ve just started on prep. As of last week. Had my bloods done and all clear. I’ll be doing the prep on a need to use basis. 2 tablets before a meet. 1 the following lunchtime and 1 that evening. I don’t have or give anal that much. Prep doesn’t stop you from getting std’s though.

Amazes me how many people post a question then leave the site it's like they won't like the answer.

I don't think you have that quite right unless it's changed in recent months.

It's 2 pills (2 to 24 hours before sex). Then one pill per day , for two days after your last sexual act.

So for example Friday - 4pm you take two pills. You have sex that night (Friday). Then Saturday you take 1 pill. Then Sunday you take 1 pill.

I hope that helps. There's leaflets online that explain

it with diagrams and visuals to make it easier.
