Many STIs can be passed on through Unprotected oral sex. Gonorrhoea is the most common, but you can also catch other things such as pubic lice if any go from his pubic area to facial hair, for example.

I'm not a fan of condom'd oral, but it's a little dangerous to perpetuate the idea that it's extremely rare to catch something when it really isn't.

It's not really easy, its really difficult and anyone that catches an STI from a BJ is very unfortunate. It happens but its rare. If you are regularly tested so that you detect STIs then none of the STIs you can catch from oral are serious.

They are not 'extremely catchable' they are rare and not easily transmitted orally. As you yourself say 99% of oral exposures are u protected, and oral itself is a much more common sex act than anal. Can you imagine what a massive amount of STIs we would see if they were 'extremely catchable' through oral?

I've only had one guy ask to put a condom for oral. I laughed and walked away. Spoken to so many so called safe only people and many have said it's because they have had some STI.
