I used to like the 'favourites' section on the profiles, which said a lot about the person. Also my recollection is that people weren't as angry then as they are now. Happier, simpler times ho hum...

(I know gaydar is still around, but it's gone the way of myspace.)

Back before it became just another app it really was the "go to" place to find other guys in the earlier days of the internet.

It had such a fantastic search function too - you could mix and match a search on practically every aspect of a profile including key words in the profile text so, for instance, if you wanted to find anyone who was over 5ft 6 inches with a hairy chest, uncut cock, ginger hair, brown eyes and liked the band Black Sabbath, the search engine handled it with ease.

Was like being a kid in a candy store back then if you previously didn't have access to a local gay scene and the only way to find like minded individuals had been via cruising or cottaging.

I remember it in its day as the definitive gay meeting site. I also don't recall the chat rooms being anything other than for discussing sex. I can't remember if CD/TVs were part of the gaydar scene, I suspect not being very gay oreintated but may be wrong?

I remember all the excitement and fuss about gaydar when it started, but I didn't take to it, there were plenty of time wasters even then and found plenty of prissy old queens scouring it to find people they knew and bitching and gossiping over profiles. It really wasn't for me.

I was on gaydar for quite some time, but after the redesign it went down hill. Now it is full of scammer accounts which the site does nothing about even when they are reported - so you aren’t missing anything. That is why I closed my account there because it basically was an unsafe environment.

Yes there are some scammer accounts on here but at least action does seem to be taken against (some of) them if reported.
