Ok, so my wife has installed a tracking app on my phone called Life 360 so that we can see where we are if we want to look at it.

Now this is going to cause me a problem if I want to play away as she could look at it at any moment and ask me why I’m stopped at such and such a road if I said I was somewhere else.

(If you disapprove of cheating, feel free to keep those thoughts to yourself).

Does anybody here know how to get round it (without deleting the app)?

Why would she want it on your phone?

Is she already suspicious?

I disapprove of cheating.

You don't have the right to tell me I can't voice that opinion.

However I know, that for you and your lady wife's happiness you need to ..... Whatever.

This is how.

Leave your phone in a ziplock bag, near the office or pub while you play away.

Go on Oscar delta or Jacobite solutions and get the bags that completely block cell signals and acquire a burner phone for emergencies.

I don’t think so, our kids are also on there. We’ve got a group

When she wants to know where you are 24/7, I'd say you are halfway there

"Turn off your location

You can never trust that. And the app may or may not show you logged it off.

Physically blocking the signal or leaving the phone somewhere inocent is as close to infallible as possible.

Try such sources as

"Ed's manifesto"

And some videos on

"Vigilance elite" podcast particularly the one where Shaun Ryan interviews the FBI'S favourite hacker.

Now I know both are American but both give a bit of an insight into hacking, social engineering and transactional analysis.

Also some really good none permissive environment survival and travel advice, personal security advice and even first aid and trauma care goodness on tic tok, YouTube and Instagram.

Interestingly, I want to put this app on my wife’s phone , and hide it in a junk file ( she isn’t at all tech savy) so I can see where she is, and therefore won’t be driving past my car in the forest carparks, or if she is still at her WI meeting- so I know I can cruise a bit longer!

(- for the fantasists, it is not to check on her with her lover, not unless Hell has frozen over. )

I would advise against this as the phone it’s on will get updates from the app, (there may well be an option to turn them off, but I haven’t found it yet).

Get another phone.

Leave yours at home on the days you plan to fuck about.

Plausible deniability

I would just say I don’t agree to surveillance of any member of my family - it’s intrusive and unacceptable. Say you don’t want it on your phone or anyone else’s. It’s too much like Chinese invasion of human rights and there needs to be a stop to it at every level .

Shouldn't be cheating in the first place.

Look for a “location spoofer” in apps and it’ll be able to stop life 360 from locating you. ( might want to check your kids haven’t installed similar on their devices).

Why you would agree to the shocking level of surveillance this app has is beyond me.

In my experience, phones have bad signal areas, so not 100% reliable.

So stick it on airplane mode before you leave your normal area, and use a burner phone for meets. Just take it off airplane mode as soon as back in normal area.

Say nothing until challenged... and then just shrug shoulders with a - ‘must have been shit signal, i guess’

If you want to be more creative... claim you cant see her every so often (even if you can)... i.e. establish a doubt in the integrity of the system. She will doubt it herself then when she cant see your location.

To those who now think im devious cheat. My wife knows of my ‘hobby’... i just have other reasons to cover my tracks

Precisely. It's not rocket science.

I often go out and ‘forget’ my phone at home when my other half is there. So anytime I leave my phone at home, ‘I forgot to take it with me’ is a perfectly reasonable excuse.

Long-term, it likely IS cheaper - bear in mind the stress, irritation, disappointment otherwise.

I’m just experiencing this. My wife has gone into a state of nervousness about everything. She says she can look where I am and call there straight away if she needs me. Errr you can call my mobile.

She tracks my eighteen year old and my twelve year old. 18 was out drinking last night and she spent the whole night watching where he was.

Trouble with this Life360 is that it tells her where I am, and how long I’ve been there. It also tells her how much charge my phone has - so turning off isn’t an option.

When I try to reason with her, I’m told “if you have nothing to hide, you’d have no reason to not want it”
