Once the case reaches trial, and assuming he doesn't plead guilty, the jury will be warned to consider their verdict on evidence alone. | |||

Corruption " I think that there is much to be done and I would suggest we start with the removal of televisions and telephones in cells, compulsory labour such as mailbag sewing, more closed visits and making sure people are a long way from home. Getting rid of the expensive private prisons would be a good start too. | |||

The judge and prosecution cherrypicked the best bits of evidence to find him guilty, leaving out other pieces of evidence that would have rendered his conviction unsafe. With regards to people being remanded in custody awaiting trial, this doesn't happen without very good reason. The decision can only be made if there are there are substantial grounds to believe that: They will not come back to court for trial and/or They will commit an offence and/or They will interfere with witnesses or obstruct the course of the case etc. | |||
